how to enable code?

my profile says
HTML is OFF
BBCode is OFF
Smilies are OFF

but there is no way to turn it on

To add to this-

This allows the quotes to work, etc.
Check in preview to see if things are working.
Anything working should show in preview.

I recommend enabling email.
Your email address is not displayed, but you can receive emails.
Your email address is not shown to the other person unless you reply with email.
You still have the option of using pm to reply.
I find the pm system a pain, with its lack of storage.
Many people don't log on often and email is more efficient in those cases too.
