I've made no claims to what BM is about... as the title says ...Conerned BM is getting too big, not that it is, maybe not, that's why I ask, but why spend $320 for insults - reminds me of a Monty Python skit.

I've been going for ten years, I am addicted. I moderate eplaya so I'm thinking about the event daily. So my best advice is just go. Be prepared, don't overthink it, and have a happy burn. If stupid/bad shit happens, roll with it. Life is too short to stay home.

You seem a little melancholy LLQc. If crowds will freak you out, you may have a tough time. I take time to ride at night, with good lights, not only on my bike but lights to see things with, way out into the playa out towards the fence. You can find things there, art, few people, but they are more like you, wanting less crowded environs. I have found coffee shops, grilled cheese sandwiches, movie theaters, weird little things, clear out and in the night. But then I come back in and, even in the wee hours there are people in the city. AntiM is right, though. There is a certain, what, charm? in the size and bustle of that city. The 'art' all over the place, the people who only need your hello to become like a friend. I feel excited and joy and even a little intimidation in BRC. But, again like AntiM said, I have become addicted to it. It's a magical place if you let it. 'Course I also go out a couple times a year to have that other experience. Few or no people, hot springs, evidence of ancient people... For me it makes BRC all that much more special. I really think you should go and do it. There absolutely nothing like it. Anywhere.

Well I got tickets so it's a done deal if something doesn't happen between now and the burn...

Is there a place called "Camp Argument Clinic"? If not, I want to start one ...but insults will be extra...

If you're worried about your belongings, lock them up in an extra mini storage unit place in Reno for the duration.

I never had anything stolen....you might want to do this storage lock up simply to make room for water, food, gear (and avoid having to clean every single thing you own of the finer playa dust; protect or store your lap top!)

I like your nomadic life, my still much loved ex-brother in law did it until he cracked and returned to a paycheck job. He blew up mountains for a living, I used to help, hahaha, strip mining for gold and enlarging ski areas, stuff like that.
