May be a reference to the stupid fast two cycles they became famous for, or the Triumphs.
I'm sure it was a japanese bike though, probably a Kawasaki.
He wouldn't have had the cost of a BSA, as he says he couldn't afford a Harley.
He has referred to a 750 Triple Kawasaki, probably the later bike.
The BSA did exist in 65-66, but barely.
He wrecked it, which partially helped with his lost credibility.

I think it was most likely the 650 twin, a copy of the BSA/Triumph design.

I could have sworn he owned a Vincent Black Shadow! And No, was not taken from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, but in a letter he wrote to someone...

He definitely talks about riding one.
And he did say he had a BSA 650 at one point.
It could have been the first bike he bought, I just don't remember it having been a british bike.

If anyone has a copy of Hells Angels, he says in the book.
I don't have my copy anymore.

A friend of mine named his son Vincent Blackshadow. I could almost understand if this person owned that motorcycle.

Hello Super Evil Brian! I'm glad you've come to eplaya, the information here from those that have been there done that is invaluable. The drive from TX is seriously boring, we drive a school bus with an average speed of 47mph. Audio books are helpful for many people and trying to make it more of a road trip by stopping at some of the different points of interest helps as well. Maybe you can find another group that is traveling from your direction and just convoy with them. You won't be stuck in the car with them, but it could make the trip a little less lonely.

I'm amazed at the number of people that have posted here this year coming from TX! It gives me a little hope for our state. Good luck to you!

Dunno..never read his entire experience with the Hells Angels.

I found a reference to the guy in the flurry of stories that started Thompson's involvement.

ok,i'm back and i've re-taught myself manners. welcome to the eplaya superevilbryan. i've enjoyed your posts on here. we live in fredericksburg and would enjoy sharing routes or whatever. hubs and i are driving up with a truck and travel trailer. It sounds like you might be low on space and we could work out bringing some of your gear or something. we are new to burningman too, but can get you in touch with a few people in our area who are more experienced and probably closer to your age.

teardropper, yep. i acknowledge i'm an old fart and most of the burners that live around me are 20 or 30 somethings. Us "seasoned" performers are just trying to stay out of the way of the young pups, perhaps bring along some of their toys!

MyDearFriend, you should see some of the stuff i found in california! Almost had to buy another suitcase, found a couple resale shops and loaded up on the lace and leather.

Thanks for the offer. I'm still in the process of acquiring stuff.

I had some extra money for some reason and I was getting pretty excited, until my brother emailed me the car repo notice left on his door, Carmax thinks I still live there, although they send "offers" and other junk to where I lived in Austin.

A series of oversights and other issues led me to making 4 payments at the same time over the phone, with two more for next week. Um ... I'm delaying my equipment purchases for a couple of months.

I think I'll have the space thing down, it will be tight but I should be OK.

It would be fun to meet before or on the way and maybe find each other's camp once there.
