The Miss Illumination 2004 Announcement

hi all! a new press release is in the works, but this is what was just submitted to Who What Where:

"The Miss Illumination 2004 Special Event is one of the four Miss Black Rock City 2004 events on the playa this year (other events include the sash-making workshop on Tuesday in the Smoochdome, the pageant preliminaries on Thursday afternoon at Asylum, and the main pageant event on Friday afternoon).

Directly after the countdown to a new day on Thursday night at New Days Eve is the Miss Illumination 2004 competition! Participation is encouraged among all Self-Proclaimed Beauty Queens: all men and women, all sexual preferences and/or identities, all theme camps, villages, tribes and tents... but everyone must have a sash (if you don’t have one, come to the sash-making workshop on Tuesday) and a title with the prefix of ‘Miss’. Because in our reality, *anyone* can be Miss Illumination 2004!

The competition will consist of two sections: one where you show off your finest achievements in wearable illumination, as well as an interview section where you tell us a little bit about your inspiration behind the project. You may be asked to answer a standard ‘beauty queen’ interview question – with a burner twist – so be prepared!

The Grand Gift for your participation shall include a tiara and Miss Illumination 2004 sash for the winner, as well as special recognition during the Miss Black Rock City 2004 event at Disorient on Friday at 3:30. "
