Bacon Food

Post by maryanimal » Tue Jan 25, 2011 8:10 pm

So I was watching Diner's, Drive-ins and Dives tonight and there is this cafe that serves bacon brownies which sound deeeeelicious to me. I'm planning on dipping bacon in chocolate at our camp. And maybe a few other things made with bacon.

Now what would be an awesome dish made with bacon, that sounds good to you. Dessert?

And I thought this would be a thread telling us how to feed our pig so that we'd have scrumptious bacon at the burn this year.

(I really got to stop doing this. I"m sure that somewhere people are making betting pools on how long it will take for the obvious joke to be made...)

One day a man drove by a farm and saw a three-legged pig. The man went up to the farmer and said, "Excuse me sir, but why does that pig only have 3 legs?"
"Well," said the farmer, "that there pig is very special. One time my wife was cooking something she stepped out of the kitchen and it caught on fire. No one in the house knew about it but the pig and he saved me, my wife, and my 2 kids."
"That's amazing sir but why does that pig only have three legs?" said the man.
"Then there was that time the pig saw a big storm coming and we didn't. The pig ran into the house and dragged us out to the storm cellar. If it weren't for that pig we would all be dead."
"But still, that doesn't explain why the pig only has 3 legs." "And I remember the time my youngest son was stuck up in a tree but I was too far away to hear him scream. The pig came running towards me and led me to where he was."
"Well, that is miracle but how come that pig only has 3 legs?" the man said quite annoyed at this point.
"Well," said the farmer, "with a pig that special... you have to eat 'em real slow."

Okay,,,, since this is the most recent thread about our beloved food item,,,, and Trish and I were discussing tonight,,,, and could not think of an answer to this question,,,, Please help us with the answer if there is one!

One food item that does not go well with bacon?

She said, "gum", but I don't think of that as a food item,,, and personally, I think gum would be better with bacon.

Thinking now,,, I probably would not eat lime jello by itself,,,,, thinking hmmmmm,,,,, might have to try that and see. My first impression is bacon would be an improvement for lime jello. I'm going to give it go a let you know in a few days.

What are those Philippino (sp?) duck eggs called?
It's like a fully developed baby duck inside the egg. I saw the contestants
eat them on Survivor or The Amazing Race. Anyway, I don't think
bacon could make those taste good.

How about red licorice wrapped in bacon?

Black licorice wrapped in bacon?

Speaking of Philipino food, I wonder how bacon wrapped lumpia would taste, besides awesome?

Ok, Nickle Diner in Los Angeles has the BEST bacon doughnut EVER!! It's a really buttery brioche dough rather than a normal doughnut dough. They use a real maple glaze and FRESH apple wood smoked bacon with a rough chop and absolutely DROWN the doughnut in bacon. I am not going to lie, it's transendant. If you live in the area, you MUST get one.

Nope, not since my first Burn. 5 years of vegan-hood. I do try to steer clear of meat in my daily life, but i do indulge every now and then. And at the burn I say, FUCK IT! And eat whatever my heat fancys

Trish says bacon would only improve on that nasty little thing,,,, and the lumpia? That's a no brainer,,, Dr Pyro is correct! Awesome would be the word,,,,

Personally, I'm going to find the Nickle Cafe,,,,, SOON!

The lime jello shall be this weekend's experiment.

edit to add: bacon and licorice,,,, hmmmmm will investigate that too. Does Absinthe and bacon count? I know they work together,,,, but then I'm kinda bias.

Wholeheartedly disagree,,,, bacon makes even sprouts taste better! Try a BLT with sprouts instead of lettuce,,,, a BST if you will.

shroom,,,,, like the link and all the bacon goods,,,, but what DOES Bacon NOT go with or make taste better?
