1st tune eplaya user! recent bm convert. whats going on?

Post by Martin001 » Sun Jan 30, 2011 2:57 am

Hi, my name is Martin and after yearning for BM for 3 year I finally made it happen in 2010. I did tons of research and none of it prepared me mentally for the impact it would have. I'm hooked. I went through a 7 hour fiasco to get my tickets for this year AND AM SO FUCKING EXCITED!!!

Anyways, I am from Spokane, WA and am feeling antsy. I did not dance before I went to burning man and now everytime I hear electronic music I cant help but move and I love it. I went to a 'rave' in Spokane recently and it kind of sucked. I didn't feel so comfortable around so many kids that were super high... is that weird?

Is there a mature BM crowd out there around the inland northwest that gets together to jam and enjoy the beats????? I've never been into electronic music before so I dont really have a clique to bring together for some dancing :(

I know there are some local burners - whats going on?? I need a burning man pre-pre-burn therapy session :)
if you have not done it how can you really know that you will not like it?

Your best bet might be your regional email list: http://regionals.burningman.com/regiona ... ry.html#us

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

Hi Martin! Welcome to eplaya! This year will be my first burn! I noticed you're in Spokane. check out the regionals website, although the closet is Seattle or Bellingham. Hey we should start a group in Spokane. I don't know of any other burners around here. If there are, they must not come about eplaya!
Sometimes I'm confused by what I think is really obvious. But what I think is really obvious obviously isn't obvious.

Hi Mary! Did you get your ticket yet? Nothing like actually getting the ticket to commit to BM. It took me 4 years to buy a ticket then bam I was there and cant see myself not being there again. Super excited for this year.

I'd yes yes lets start a group but I'm totally not looking to take anything representing a leadership role with that 0_o. I've got a pretty full plate and would have to over commit myself.

Are you into the music scene around Spokane? I think there is a semi regular electronic music scene but its all new to me. Just found out about a guy that plays every sunday.. Do you have FB? you should hit me up, much easier for me to communicate through that since its something I already use alot :)

Welcome to the love of local burner events, Martin. Through you're own participation, you'll be adding to what is already going on. There's a good chance that if you reach out for some wet clay, participate and volunteer enough, you will see it grow and thrive by your own hand and those of many a new friend.

Be well and do strange things.

Welcome Martin!

I think you can send a "shut out" for locals in Spokane on your regionals list to go dancing, Maryanimal will see it also....I'd try to keep the message somewhat short and concise. Also, ask the regionals list folks in charge if need be...some regionals have an "announce list" and a "discussion" list, but I think some only have the "announce list", if so, they will probably be happy to allow you to "shout out" to Spokane for dancing and such...you will notice all sorts of information and good things flow through your regionals lists. The sooner you sign up for your regionals, the better! :)
I'm the MAN in a truck, burner who is stuck, you're in luck! I'll whip out my BIG tow chain and not charge you, not even one lousy buck!
