Reducing Costs for Overseas Burners?

Hiya Fellow Burners
I've managed to attend Burning Man before, but when you come from a place like South Africa, you gotta be pretty wealthy to come to BM. The first time I came over, it cost me way too much, but the experience was sooooo worth it.
I am coming again this year, but I am trying to reduce costs a little. I was wondering if I could borrow/hire camping equipment?
Anyone know of cheap car rental or a place where burners that needs lifts into BRC can gather?
The RV is just out of bounds expensive for me.
I would appreciate any advice?

Try to connect with others on this list who are looking for riders/campmates...esp those with RVs. The rideshare list in this forum w/b up and operating sometime in June, give or take...

Last year we had two gals from Holland who rode with us in our RV...all they had was their food, water, clothing and bedding. It can be done, you just have to be persistent!

Back in the 90s I was able to rent a sleeping bag. I think it was from Cal Adventures. Or maybe REI. Google something like "camping equipement rental reno" and see what pops up.

Rent a wreck, this is a car rental company I used to use years ago and the cars were quite good. lower cost, used, older rental cars.

Rent+a+wreck+reno+nevada popped up a long list of their company's web pages plus a few others.

The ride share from the airport is free, this would save you the car rental cost entirely I would think? maybe rent a wreck for a day to shop food and water, then go back to the ride share pick up points...airport and I think there are other spots also....sav mart on keystone, others...............???? and catch a ride...a taxi could take you and everything you buy back to a ride share point.

Best case scenario is if someone offering ride share will also be shopping for food & water, I don't know all the details about that, my guess is it could be done.

Someone else may have better advice, this is all I know.
