Hey, those look mighty delish!

Whatever cooking method is employed, overcooking releases the glucosinolate sinigrin, which has a sulphurous odour. The odour is the reason many people profess to dislike Brussels sprouts, having only ever tried them overcooked. Generally 6â€“7 minutes boiled or steamed is enough to cook them sufficiently.

We steam RAW brussels sprouts with chicken broth,,,, leave them with just a bit of crunch and they are delicious! My youngest daughter's favorite veggy.

The Hubby cuts them in half, brushes them with olive oil & roasts them for a few minutes, then tosses them with balsalmic, salt & pepper while still warm.

Yumm.

Finally someone else thinks buttered popcorn stinks! And you're being nice with the dog poop comment...I usually refer to more vile, disgusting things when I describe it. Not to mention there's this nasty tendency for the people making it to get a nasty lung ailment...(not mentioning the m word here so it doesn't hit the search engines). In short it's something best avoided.

Had them for the first time last year, think they came from Ikeda's market in Auburn. Best pickle ever, and we used the pickle juice to soak sourdough for mozzarella di bufala tomato basil sandwiches.

I remember hearing somewhere that there's a genetic difference that cause some people to taste Brussels Sprouts as bitter and others to taste it as sweet.

Supertasters

I haven't heard of anyone tasting them as sweet, just that the flavor is good. The whole cabbage/ broccoli family tends to disagree with supertasters.

maybe but i love cabbage/broccolli veg in general just those EVIL mini cabbages
