If Israel is stupid enough to jump into this, all the Jews in Washington won't be able to help them--assuming they even wanted too.

Their biggest fear is for the rest of the region to become more democratic. It would reduce them to being unnecessary and the US would no longer be able to justify sending them foreign aid.

Seems that oil hit over $ 100. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/fina ... fears.html
The insurance people claim that there is no threat to shipping. That could change in minutes.
Thousands of "criminals" escaped from Egyptian prisons. Many fled to Gaza. The greatest of all dangers is that agents-provocateur could incite Egyptians to attack israel. The resulting Egyptian deaths would end the possibility of ANY peaceful outcome.
The Egyptians earned $ 4.1 billion from the canal. The idiots in London seem to think that the Egyptians would never attack and risk losing the revenue. This is a major weakness in the West. Believing that others have the same values.

There are peacekeeping troops in Sinai and Golan. The U.S. is sending troops to 'Guarantee" the peace terms of the israeli -egypt peace agreement. IF outside troops can not keep israel from killing Egyptians, there will be hell to pay. The stupid israelis are so fucking arrogant that they may just let it happen. Israel did an investigation in to the attack on the Turkish Aid flotilla. They exonerated themselves from any wrongdoing. With that kind of attitude, they may think it unimportant to avoid Egyptian deaths.
Look at the actions in the area. EVERYONE is panicked. Jordan fired their whole cabinet. GOV is flying by the seat-of-the-pants.
Imagine if the Republican Guard had sent a million LAWs to Lebanon. Stingers and things like that. There is no defense. It isn't any stretch of the imagination either. Iran even has an Exocet factory. They claim that if attacked, they can fire 11,000 missiles a minute. Suppling a million LAWs to Arab partisans would only cost them chump-change.

The West could get a very serious lesson in asymmetric warfare. Our bombs and missiles work great for blowing up tank farms and wells and pipelines. We can strafe and bomb and LASER them all to death. We can't protect the oil infrastructure though.
Especially with a hostile populace.

It seems that Netanyahu has his diplomatic head up his ass when it comes to Egypt. He's so accustomed to treating Egypt like a toy, that he refuses to take them seriously.
http://www.haaretz.com/opinion/change-i ... t-1.341181

Part of the problem is that he is so deluded. He believes that 80% of Americans support him.
In the end, he doesn't much give a shit anyway;

Israel is talking about war in several theaters.
http://www.presstv.ir/detail/164167.html

Erdogan of Turkey is supporting Egypt. This has the makings of a huge mess,,,, possibly thermonuclear. Israel and their puppet are in the process of trying to destroy Pakistan. Turkey will protect Iran and Russia will stand behind both of them. Putin told Bibi in no uncertain terms that he would make israel a sheet of radioactive glass if israel continued to fuck with Russia.
The Russian missiles can erase the whole U.S. navy. In that case, Turkey would turn out to be the heavyweight. Israel is in no position to fight an extensive ground war. America won't fight it for them because OPEC will shut down. Israel can NOT fight a war in several theaters for more than a few weeks. Iran will blow them away. If israel resorts to nukes, that will be their "swan song". The destruction will be biblical.

This is a very interesting article about the early days of the peace process.
http://www.informationclearinghouse.inf ... e27425.htm
Wide reading will show that israel has never dealt with "good faith" in peace negotiations. This is especially true in building projects in Jerusalem.
It remains to be seen if israel's strategy has long-term viability. They depend a great deal on America and their control of our GOV. As America crashes financially, American power will be projected less and less globally. Dozens of countries have signed up supporting Palestine. They see the role of America diminishing and they aren't as concerned as much as previously about American backlash.
America sends about $ 3billion to israel. America sends about $ 1.5 billion to the military in Egypt. This is a risk building up the Egyptian military as they consider israel to be their number one potential enemy. As long as the head of Egypt kept the military strictly in line, there was no problem. The problems in Egypt open up the prospect of israel losing indirect control of the Egyptian military. Israel is openly hoping for a massacre in Egypt to restore order. There is a great risk of a backlash. Time will tell.

Israelis in 'big trouble' with loss of staunchest Arab ally

By SHEERA FRENKEL
McClatchy Newspapers

JERUSALEM -- Israeli officials Friday were full of misgivings and uncertainty over the resignation of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, fearing the Jewish state will lose its staunchest ally in the region and that the popularity of Islamist groups is on the rise.

Government officials wouldn't comment publicly on the impact of Mubarak's resignation for Israel - Egypt's northern neighbor. But officials said they're "very hopeful" that a "Mubarak mimic," such as Vice President Omar Suleiman, would succeed him.

Others in Israel predicted an uncertain horizon.

"Egypt has completely lost its status in the area, while Turkey and Iran are on the way up. It's a different world," said Zvi Mazel, a former Israeli ambassador to Egypt. "As long as we had Mubarak, there was no void in our relations with the region. Now we're in big trouble."

Israel's once strong ties with Turkey and Jordan have turned rocky. Popular protests in Jordan against the moderate government of King Abdullah have targeted his ties with Israel. Turkey and Israel have clashed over Israel's invasion of Gaza in 2008-2009 and its botched raid on a Gaza-bound flotilla that killed nine Turkish nationals last May. Turkey released its findings on the incident Friday, largely blaming Israel for the deaths of the Turkish civilians.

"From this day on, I only have lots of questions about what will be, what will be the fate of the peace treaty between us and the Egyptians? And how will this affect the entire region?" former Israeli Defense Minister Binyamin Ben Eliezer told an Israeli TV channel.

Ben Eliezer, a past envoy to Egypt, was widely considered the closest Israeli official to Mubarak. Earlier in the crisis, he told McClatchy Newspapers that he was speaking to Mubarak by phone regularly, and that Mubarak had been seeking an "honorable way out."

Israel had been one of the Mubarak's few outspoken supporters. Israeli officials disparaged the protesters as "radicals."

Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak said Thursday that the Egypt should be given time for a slow "change" rather than a rapid shift of power to the hands of "extremists."

Barak told ABC News that Israel should tell Egypt, "We respect your need to avoid falling into the hands of extremists. We understand that you need some time . ... The real winners of any short-term election, let's say within 90 days, will be the (opposition) Muslim Brotherhood," Barak said.

Israeli security officials said that an Egyptian government controlled by the Muslim Brotherhood would have a "destabilizing" effect on the entire region.

"Israel relied on Egypt to maintain the peace and the status quo in the region. We know Mubarak and could work with him. The big question is what comes next," said one Foreign Ministry official who spoke on the condition of anonymity as a matter of policy.

"If Suleiman takes over, it would ease a lot of minds in Israel. He is - very much - in the vein of Mubarak and we would trust him to maintain the peace," the official said.

Israel's 1979 peace treaty with Egypt has been the basis of Israel's Middle East policy, allowing the Jewish state to focus its defense concerns elsewhere, said Maj. Gen. Amir Eshel, chief of planning for the Israeli army. Egypt has backed Israel on its tight blockade of the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip.

Speaking at the Herziliya security conference in Israel earlier this week, Eshel said Israel's diplomacy in the region would be jeopardized if Egypt falls into the hands of a more Islamist group. "It will become more difficult for Israel to control events and their outcomes" over the coming year, Eshel said.

Here are some translations;
"Eshel said Israel's diplomacy in the region would be jeopardized"
Meaning, israel would see limitations on unlimited murder

"will lose its staunchest ally"
lose it's most manipulated puppet

""It will become more difficult for Israel to control events and their outcomes"
Israel will find it impossible to fuck over their neighbors by proxy. They will have to do it directly
It will take time for israel to groom a new puppet. If the Muslim Brotherhood gets into power, there isn't much chance of installing a puppet. They need to buy time and postpone elections.
I suspect that Egypt will listen to Turkey and Iran. That will make it impossible for israel to install a puppet. The longer the strikes go on, the more the economy will collapse. ANY new leader will have big problems trying to stabilize the economy.

Just found this;
"A recently discovered Turkish oil basin is believed to draw from the same oil source as the huge Iranian Zagros basin, like a huge sea of oil swimming under thousands of miles of desert. This unexplored region holds what could prove one of the biggest untapped oil deposits in the world.

"Even the leading oilmen in the US and Europe have not fully explored it, as they've been distracted by the oil 'boom' in Iraq. Much more lucrative are the prospects of Iran's neighbors...in a much more stable country."

Should Turkey be swimming in oil, they can "guide" and support their Muslim neighbors. Another headache for israel.

That IS news. The biggest danger at the moment is that the economy collapses and food runs short. The resulting chaos would light a fire that would / will kill millions.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/fe ... on-mubarak
Mubarak played a BAD hand. 80 million Egyptians could make quite a mob. Word is that the army mid-level officers would refuse orders to kill civilians and turn their arms on their officers. I spent a few days walking around Cairo. Cairo has almost 8 million people and little close farming.
The PTB in the area are TOO stupid to avoid some kind of provocation. Bibi has fear but NO respect. Peres has NO plan. Livni has no time;
http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/julia ... estinians/
If israel and her puppet were to start today; shipping huge quantities of food,,, that might avoid a massacre. :(

Israel has about 6 million people and receives about $3 billion in aid. They have lots of startups and IPOs.
Gilad Atzmon writes about the economy there;
http://www.gilad.co.uk/writings/gilad-a ... nners.html
It appears that israel is the unhappy recipient of LOTS of russian mafia. Boris Yeltsin claimed that Russia was run by organized crime. I read that Rusia kicked a lot of them out. The article has a few links. It shows that israel has very high income inequality.
The founders of israel wanted a theocracy,,,, more or less. It appears to have been hijacked by criminals.
Income distribution and wage disparity is the third worst in the world.

It seems that big power shifts may be on the way;

Egypt and Turkey can shape their strategic environment, in cooperation with Syria and Lebanon, by weakening, containing, and even rolling back Israel.

Egypt/Turkey-Israel: ‘A Clean Break’

By Eric Walberg.

February 25, 2011 "MEO" -- While Egypt’s revolution was very much about domestic matters -- bread and butter, corruption, repression -- its most immediate effects have been international. Not for a long time has Egypt loomed so large in the region, to both friend and foe. At least 13 of the 22 Arab League countries are now affected: Algeria, Bahrain, Djibouti, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia and Yemen.

But just as powerful has been the resonance in Israel. It has no precedent for an assertive, democratic neighbour. Except for Turkey.

As the US was putting the finishing touches on NATO (established in April 1949), Turkey became the first Muslim nation to recognise Israel, in March 1949 (Iran did so a year later). Under the watchful eye of its military, Turkey and Israel had close diplomatic, economic and military relations throughout the Cold War.

The first hint of trouble was Turkey’s denunciation of “Israeli oppressionâ€
