The People of Burning Man Kickstarter

Not sure what the appropriate thread for this is, but here we go:

Something amazing happened today amid the chaos of ticket sales: The People of Burning Man started its Kickstarter project!

For those of you who haven't heard of this awesome book, it is a collection of Burner portraits done over the last decade. Traditional publishers said this book was too controversial to print, and that books about BM haven't sold well in the past.. we say, f*ck em!

..and so, the Kickstarter project was born! TPoBM have 58 days to reach the goal of $25,000 and get published. By pledging funds, not only do you help get the book published, but at $50 or more you get your own copy of the book to love and enjoy.

Update! TPoBM have raised over $4500 in just 24 hours! Holy cow, I love our community. Still a long way to go to $25,000 though..

Tier structure? This is to get a book published, not an event o_O...however there kind of is a tier structure as far as pledges go which is as follows:

Pledge $10 or more

Appreciation + a small item sent to you
Backer 5 BACKERs
Pledge $50 or more

A copy of the book. Your name printed in the book. An "I made The People of Burning Man" button. Photo postcards. Massive appreciation and love for making this book get published.
Backer 38 BACKERs
Pledge $65 or more

A signed copy the book. The extras from the $50 level. Massive appreciation and love for making this book get published.
Backer 20 BACKERs
Pledge $100 or more

Two signed copies of the book. Your name and the name of somebody you chose will be printed in the book. The extras from the previous levels. Massive appreciation and love for making this book get published.
Backer 12 BACKERs
Pledge $350 or more

Two signed copies of the book. Pick a piece of art from the SMALL ART gallery. Your name and another name that you chose will be printed in the book. The extras from previous levels. Super duper massive appreciation and love for making this book get published.
Backer 0 BACKERs
Pledge $1,000 or more

A piece of art from the LARGE ART gallery. Five signed copies of the book. Each book will have custom illustrations along with the names of the people the books will be given to. Your name printed in the book large + other names printed that you chose. A strange mystery gift. The extras from previous levels. Absurdly massive appreciation, love, and the knowledge that this book is forever something you made exist!

Pledge $2,000 or more

A white background photo shoot with Julian in his San Francisco Studio with you and your family / friends. Everything from the $1000 level. Love and undying gratitude for making this book exist.

Hey ePlaya!

So, with only a week passed Julian Cash is halfway funded to get his book, The People of Burning Man is halfway to being published!! However, we have now reached a lul.. There are 50 days left to make a little over 8 and a half grand.. This will be the hardest part!

So, help this book become a reality! The kickstarter video is now also on youtube:

This is an awesome book. It appears to be very close to being funded. I want a copy of this book--dammit!

I just wanted to give a little bump to this Burning Man book called, The People of Burning Man. Check out the video link and the website.

They are an inch away from being fully funded to publish this book.

In my next career, I want to be a book reviewer. Books with lots of pictures will be my specialty!

This book is just inches away from a nice round $30k raised. A small donation gets you a copy of this incredible Burning Man picture book.

Believe it! We are a mere 10 dollars away from $30,000!! And all of YOU fabulous people are why this kickstarter project is such a success!! So thank you!

Though we have reached the goal for funding, we want to go above and beyond just getting the book published. We are going to try and raise as much funds as we can to spread the word about this book far and wide. We want to show the world how happy people can be when they are allowed to be themselves, to live and thrive without judgment. Maybe the images captured in this book will inspire someone to let themselves be the inner person they were afraid of showing to the world

Also, if anyone is interested, I have a few postcards from the project. If you'd like to physically see some of the stunning images from this book, PM me your mailing address and I will send one out

Wow, I just checked back in on Kickstarter and this book was over-funded.
I guess people are not offended by naked people in a book.
There is a great video clip here and photos from the book, but if nakedness makes you squeamish, don't click these links above!

(and it's an incredible work of art as well)
