I had to put down my 13 year old Minture Schnauzer Max.
October 4th 2010 after last years Burning Man he was my Best Friend.
I Miss him alot.
He was not eating back in April 2010 they said they thought it was his bladder stones for the 2nd time. Then when he stopped eating again in late Sept 2010 they found a fist size cancerous tumor in his belly.
He was in a lot of Pain.
I could tell he was not ready to die yet but they said his Blood counts & other counts & stuff everything was way down. they said he would not make it through the week end.
He did make it through the weekend. On Saturday we took him to our local IHOP & our waitress friend had the cook make him a Hamburger.
He loved it.
We let him eat or drink anything he wanted all weekend long.
On Monday October 4th I had to call the Vet to come to our home & put him to sleep.
It really sucked.
I have never had to do this before. I held him in my arms while they did it & felt his last breath & Heart beat. I Miss him so much
But at least I know he is out of pain and suffering.
Take care

i feel ya bob. just had to put down my 13 year old retriever a week ago. had her since she was just weeks old. same ugly sickness. cancer. she was acting totally normal and the vet said it wasn't spreading, seemed happy and not in any pain. that was 2 weeks ago. in one week she stopped eating, the mass grew out of control, and she was groaning in pain. took her in, vet called me at work and said it "was time". she had given her a pain injection, so when i got there she was up moving around just fine, looking at the leash and then the door, saying "lets go, get me outta here".
im not an overly emotional guy, at least i don't show it. but that broke my heart. watching them inject her with the final syringe.. i lost it. i know she's in a better place now, but goddamn if it doesn't hurt to see your companion of 13 years, through thick and thin, no longer there. her bed, her toys, her blanket and collar. i still haven't been able to even think about what to do with them. i just got her ashes back yesterday and put them in the nice lotus urn i got her...made a few pendants with her ashes mixed in to send out to the people who have known and loved her.
that's about as far as i've gotten. i've been told it doesn't get any easier...
so not looking forward to that...
**i was able to put her name in the Temple last year as i knew she wouldn't make it until this year. at least that is some comfort.

RIP, my friend Meg. I'm at a loss for words. She was only 62. Born and raised here in Ukiah. She went quickly in her home, surrounded by close friends and family, not wanting to die in a hospital. She was a really nice lady and friend. What I remember best about her is her cute pixie smile and how warm and loving she was. Only a petite 4'8", she always gave such great hugs that sometimes hurt, cuz she squeezed ya so hard.
Love ya Meg. xoxoxoxox

Thanks guys. My Coby is gonna be so crushed when he finds out. He and Meg were close close close friends. He's on his way home from Wyoming now. I didn't feel it would be right to tell him over the phone and have him be upset. Meg is with her husband John now, who died 2 years ago. I imagine they're both having a happy romantic picnic together in a beautiful meadow somewhere right about now...

If cocaine were legal, would they sell it in little packages like Sweet N' Low? Would they call it Sweet N' High?
