I'm with phil.... pancakes and bacon.
My twist will be....moonshine (or everclear) flambe bacon, it's new to BM
(at least I think it's new to BM?) and impressive!
The recipe is in JSTEP'S bacon thread, it's easy and fun
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm also working on Rum flambe pancakes, buuuut, I need some more practice
(you should see my kitchen, help!)
But a special treat has been the French Crepe Camp that serves almost any kind of Crepe you could imagine. We've been lucky enough to camp close to them two years in a row now. Nice people, great crepes, and we don't have to cook them!
When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me
20 minutes? What? You do know that if you leave the coffee grounds in the water too long it extracts bad flavors right? 5 minutes should be the upper bound on time steeping. I remember trying something like that, oh man it was terrible even trying to drown it out with milk and sugar.haolegolucky wrote: French press that has been sitting for at least twenty minutes getting darker and darker...
Um. People's tastes vary. I'm french press, my husband was automatic drip, my housemate is manual drip and my mother is cowboy.
And that's only a small sample size.
MASLENITSA!!!!
One of the COOLEST things from Russia. Blini with caviar, sour cream, and a sprinkle of chives!!! We used to celebrate it with Shelli's coworkers (mostly Russian and Ukranian).
There's ANOTHER aspect of the holiday (like I said, actually a week) that "warms" the heart... next Sunday (the last day) (AKA Forgiveness Sunday)...
Lady Maslenitsa is represented as a brightly dressed straw figure and is the mascot of Blini Week. On “Forgiveness Sundayâ€
Its personal taste. I like my coffee like mud. I also will put my press out overnight and let it sit with cold water and grounds in it and it comes out super smooth, with very low acidity. It gets a "thicker" consistency to it also.
I love it!
haolegolucky, you can get quotes and other tags to show up properly, if interested, by clicking on "Profile" at the top center, scrolling down to "Preferences" and ticking the button next to "enable BBCode" then "submit" at the bottom of the page.
. . . My favorite playa breakfast is frosted mini-wheats and chilled 2% Horizon farms milk and a canned Starbucks doubleshot. Complex carbs, protein, caffeine; no muss, no fuss. If I'm dehydrated, I add a 100% juice of some kind, and/or a Pedialyte.
Pedialyte is HARDCORE Sav. I can only force myself to drink it when I am trying to come back from a stomach bug. Apple flavor is the easiest for me to tolerate. It's hydrating...but the taste is ROUGH.Savannah wrote:haolegolucky, you can get quotes and other tags to show up properly, if interested, by clicking on "Profile" at the top center, scrolling down to "Preferences" and ticking the button next to "enable BBCode" then "submit" at the bottom of the page.
I don't think that's the particular flavor of slav--although she may have more than one. It's sort of interesting the number of people associated (loosely or not) with Apok who have slavic blood.
Or maybe it's jsut that those are the ones whose ancestry I know much of anything about.
First Coffee, then I like granola with a little can of canned peaches, or apricots or whatever else I have, and some powdered milk, plus I make a quart of weak tang or gatorade to get the hydration started for the day. This year I'd like to try crepes, simple with jam or lemon juice and powdered sugar.
