Anyone ever ticketed for NV seatbelt violation?
At one time I researched the NV DMV and it seems that everyone in the vehicle must be wearing a seat belt.
Anyone ever ticketed in Nevada for a passenger not wearing a belt?

I'm pretty sure that the "everyone in the car must have a seatbelt" thing is standard in all states. Although, I agree that there may be local differences in enforcement.

I was ticketed for not wearing a seat belt in Reno last October. Didn't have my license or insurance info on me either.
The cop was very nice about it. The ticket originally came to something like $500 but after proof of drivers lic and insurance it was adjusted down to around $70 (sorry bad memory). I was originally stopped because I had a tail light out.

Not true. A great state by state chart in Wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seat_belt_ ... ted_States
The question isn't about the law in NV, it's about if it's enforced.
It would seem the easiest ticket EVER for a LEO to scan some freaky vehicle going to BM and determine that absolutely everyone in it isn't wearing a belt.
Even though in NV it's a "secondary offense" (meaning the LEO can't stop and ticket for ONLY the seat belt law) it would be a good fishing expedition to see if there is a "primary" offense happening.
I just want to hear stories of enforcement. If there aren't any, then I'll be able to share more space with ride shares.

Well I was pulled over for a simple tail light being out and got popped for no seat belt. The ticket was (after being adjusted down) essentially for not wearing a seat belt. The cop told me all other charges would be dropped and they were but he was pretty adamant about wearing the seat belt.
Most likely if I would've had passengers in the car also not wearing seat belts the fine would have been greater.
If you don't get stopped for any other reason you should be fine...

That's one of the things I appreciated about Wyoming. IF you are wearing your seatbelt when stopped for a moving violation, they deduct $5 off whatever the fine is.
Now that's a POSITIVE incentive to wear it instead of a PUNISHMENT for not wearing a seatbelt.

I also wonder if someone gets pulled over for whatever reason, and a passenger who is 18+ and also a licenced driver but is not strapped in, Who gets cited?
The passenger for disobeying the law, or the driver for not having control of said passenger?

Nevada Fines for Not Wearing Seat Belts
To be given a citation for not wearing a seat belt in Nevada, you must be pulled over for another infraction since the seat belt law is not a primary offense. The fine for not wearing a seat belt in Nevada is $25. If you are the driver and have a child over the age of six or weighs over 60 pounds not wearing a seat belt, you can be issued a citation. If the driver and child are not wearing a seat belt, only one citation will be given.
The fine for not having your child properly secured in a safety seat is $50.00 to $500.00 or 8 to 50 hours of community service. The violator must also attend a court-assigned 2-hour education program on the proper selection and installation of a child safety seat.
Nevada is not enforcing this law because officials are tedious; it is to keep your children safe, so please respect the rules of the road that govern your child’s safety!

I dunno', I think that seat belts are just a plain good idea. I'm sure someone can site me another statistic about the affects of not using them, but a couple were ejected and killed in an otherwise non fatal type accident just up the road last week.
And why give them any reason to stop you. (Usually hate this, but..) Seems like a win/win.

Scott was an EMT. He'd been to too many scenes where a seat belt could have saved a life. Yeah, sometimes it ensures its loss, but the odds favor the belts.
Edited to add: He used to show me the "star pattern" that heads made on windshields when no seat belt was worn.

There was an accident in town here last week. A small car rammed into the back of a school bus that was stopped to pick up kids at a highway bus stop. The driver and front seat passenger were buckled in. The passenger in the back seat was not wearing a seat belt he was ejected through the front window and hit the back of the bus head on. It's been reported that the driver was arguing with her brother (back seat passenger) to put his seat belt on and was distracted and that is why she failed to stop. The brother passed away early this morning...R.I.P.

In Or. it's a ticket for each person not belted in.. The state police inforce the belt law in pacts on some week ends.. They train out of Salrm and we have five state HWYs runing through town. Plus the streets around the capital/state buildings..
I keep my lights up and drive properly ay all times..Things like signaling and owning my lane.

The possibility of being killed by a flying passenger is not rare.
Unbelted rear passengers often survive and kill the front passengers.
In UK they call it the 'flying granny' effect.
I pointed out somewhere that losing control after an accident often results in a secondary crash and death, often of others too.
It isn't just a personal decision.
To think that people actually worry about guns!
Only an explosion can match what a crash does.
If anyone can't bring themselves to wear belts, I can give you details about what a crash feels like.
There are a dozen sites on the web with photos of road accidents, some more journalistic than others.
I recommend a little realism to keep you careful.
It'll keep you off bikes.

What're you, 12...?
How do you know he didn't mean this: "I don't wear my seat belt because it's the law; I wear it because it is designed to keep me safe."?
Then he would be a rather intelligent 12 year old, no?
