Just a thought about getting clean. . .

Post by teslamorton » Mon Jul 19, 2004 7:59 pm

Has anyone tried using a kiddie pool to bathe in? It occured to me yesterday that a person might be able to wear a swimsuit and wash most of their parts sitting outside in the pool and then take care of the more personal things inside of their tent. The kiddie pool could then be used as the container to hold the grey water until it had evaporated. Is this idea worth pursuing?

Thanks for any input,

Tes

to much trouble for that. If your worried about washing up in a tent then pack a BUNCH of baby wipes in your ice chest for a NICE cool wipe down. Baby wipes rock on the Playa.

hey Tesla...

I know kiddie pools have made it onto the playa. I think the primary deal is that it's damn impossible to keep the water clean. Whatever dust is in the air gets in the pool. Whatever dust you have on you gets in the pool. It'll just get in there and turn the water into a thin mud. Refreshing on a hot day but it won't actually get you *clean*.

Solar showers and baby wipes are easier. They won't get you clean for very long either... but they can also be refreshing on a hot day.

Also... people just *shower* out in the open. They run behind the water truck in naked packs and wash off that way. You can bathe in a swimsuit if it's for your own modesty but don't bother on *our* behalf.
It's all about the squirrels.

I could take several days (3 - 6) to evap. Might be good for mud wrestling when you're done bathing.

Hey everyone,

Thanks for the input. I am glad I didn't waste money buying a kiddie pool. Yep, baby wipes are awesome (especially when you are backpacking where there is no water to bathe in!) Hope to see you all on the playa!
