Presidential Candidates @ BM

Post by TeslaJones » Mon Jul 19, 2004 12:36 pm

Will any candidate come and try to get our votes? Why won't they? becasue we are alternative? We just don't matter? We give a stigma?

I give this thread the Most Stupid Thread on the Eplaya Award, having recently bumped the "Why is Burning Man So White?" off the top spot.

Where to begin, where to begin...
How about with- why? You would be wasting a lot of time on 30k people. 1/4 of which will be too drugged out to understand anything, 1/4 asleep in their tents from being drugged out, 1/4 doing far more interesting things with far more interesting people. Leaving MAYBE 7k people to listen to you. 5k of which might be voting (VERY conservative estimate), of which MAYBE 500 change their vote after hearing you in person.

Assuming that you have the time to fly into Reno, and then drive out in the middle of nowhere. Time that could be spent reaching a far greater audience with better voter turnout ratio.

Plus the Secret Police would have a unholy fucking nutballed time trying to create any semblance of security in a group of people with pyrotechnics.

I'm assuming this thread is sarcasm.

Ever the optimist.

However, the record to date doesn't suggest as much.

What candidate would want to be seen appealing to naked green and orange people, Men in evening gowns, and half naked women with devil horns. Can you imagine how it would play in the Bible belt....................... maybe we should invite Bush.

On second thought by the time it stopped spinning he would be seen confronting evil incarnate and making America safe from hells spawn.

Press on the twins running amuck could be fun though.

Three things:

1. Bush would never show up in the desert full of 40,000 freaks cheerfully expressing themselves in the nekkidness. His political base cherishes the conservative outlook. When Teh Gays are A' Marryin', 'tis best to keep your lily-white hide about a thousand miles away.

2. Kerry wouldn't show up either. Contrary to the popular belief (7% of Americans don't get a real sense of Kerry's spirituality), Kerry is a devout Christian who loved church, Jesus, and God so much he nearly went to seminary school and became a priest, but chose a different path. His daughter caused enough of a stir showing up in Cannes in a sheer black dress/shirt with no bra on underneath to make it difficult for him to embrace the wildly alternative crowd.

3. Are you INSANE? Put the Secret Service in the middle of the Playa? Talk about getting searched....no fireballs. No knives. No bowling balls. No TEH GAYS IS A'MARRYIN'! No cheese! And the jackasses would probably try to comprehend half of it and either come back ready to shut the whole thing down or quit politics and move to San Francisco.

Yeah. I doubt it.

chickenfish for president!

Post by chickenfish » Wed Jul 21, 2004 4:54 pm

I, the mighty chickenfish, will be on the playa if the univers acts accordingly, and I , as the Chickenfish, want YOUR votes! Bush doesn't represent you! Kerry doesn't represent you! Even Nader doesn't represent you! So when November comes around this year, if ther isn't a major terrorist attack and our democracy is replaced by a military coup and martial law, then remember: Chickenfish knows how it feels to be groggy on the playa froma night of dirty dancing, and who to better represent YOU, the American People, than a three legged chicken with a fish for a head: CHICKENFISH FOR PRESIDENT IN 2004!! POTATO SALAD FOR VICE PRESIDENT! We can do it with your help!!

How about:

"A chickenfish in the White House is better than a badger down your pants!"
"Nothing is withheld from us which we have conceived to do.
Do things that have never been done."

I will resist the urge to make a smartass post.
But that one was almost too good to pass up, promise or no promise.
