Yep - California is a problem - since I live so close to the border I tend to forget that I'm carrying when I cross it.gyre wrote:Tear gas is prohibited?!
Amazing.
Virtually unregulated here if you're over 18.
Only place I can't carry it is a courtroom, and perhaps california.

The proposed rule would apply only to semiautomatic long guns greater than .22-caliber that can accept a detachable ammunition magazine. Stores in Texas, Arizona, New Mexico and California would be covered. It would run on a test basis for a year, Melson said.
Gun used to kill us agent allowed to be smuggled by atf.
The BIG LIE - mexico arms
According to statistics (of the "overwhelming numbers" smuggled) usa guns make little difference in mexico. (as high as 10%, border area or all mexico?? unknown)
Smugglers able to bring in entire shiploads of pseudophedrine are probably able to arrange international arms purchases.
The 50 cals are probably cheaper here.

It will also provide that persons using force authorized by law shall not be prosecuted for using such force and prohibits criminals and their families from suing victims for injuring or killing the criminals who have attacked them. In short, it gives rights back to law-abiding people and forces judges and prosecutors to focus on protecting victims."

Funny you mention Wyoming. I have gained a newfound respect for that state over the last several days. It is the MOST republican state in the country, yet they voted against an intrusive abortion bill and against a marriage discrimination bill too! Now that is definitely a true small government conservative voting record I can agree with.

Now you know where I got my fucked up world view! And the legislature only meets for a few months per year. They have real jobs to attend! Like it or not, you still have smoking sections in bars and restaurants too. You might even find a drive up window at a liquor store here and there. The weather is fucking brutal though,,,,, I do not miss that at all.jkisha wrote:Funny you mention Wyoming. I have gained a newfound respect for that state over the last several days. Back when I lived in Colorado...a long time ago, before their first smoking ban. There was a bar in town which was non-smoking. I hated it when my friends would drag me there (I was a smoker back then) but it was a perfect free-market solution, that didn't totally expose the illusion of property Rights we now have.Trishntek wrote: Like it or not, you still have smoking sections in bars and restaurants too.

California...
State Assembly Bill (various) have established, in law, the presumption that a criminal who forcibly enters or intrudes into your home or occupied vehicle is there for the greater benefit of themselves, whether or not they intend to cause death or great bodily harm, so the occupant may never use any means, including force, in self-defense.
It will also provide that criminals using force now authorized by law shall not be prosecuted for using such force and prohibits victims and their families from suing criminals for injuring or killing the victims who they were attacking. In short, it removes all rights from law-abiding people and forces judges and prosecutors to focus on protecting criminals.
City of Berkeley Politburo Member Che X applauded the move as being in line with progressive values, and helps remove the threat to hardworking lawbreakers from plying their trade, and furthers the urbanist agenda to remove firearms from all hard-working law-abiding citizens, and keep them in the hands of those criminals who rely on them to provide for their families.

I'm just referring to the pfz's, where you must open carry even with a cpl in some of them.geospyder wrote:If you have a CPL (CCW in Nevada) why can't you carry concealed? ...or are you just referring to the PFZs?Sail Man wrote:I have a CPL so most PFZ's are open to me but I can't carry concealed,...
These are areas off limits to open carry without a cpl:
Court buildings
Theaters
Sports Arenas
Day Care Centers
Hospitals
School Zones
Any establishment with ANY liquor license
(Even if they don’t currently sell alcohol)
Airports (Sterile Areas only)
Federal Buildings
Post Offices
Casinos
Banks and Financial Institutions
Church/House of Worship
Vehicles
Those of us with cpl's can carry in some of the above areas, but we must do so, openly. Places where we can do neither include:
Federal Buildings
Post Offices
Casinos
Federal Reserve Banks
Courts
Airports (Sterile Areas only)

Massad Ayoob is teaching a class here.
I thought the subject matter might interest some of you.
These are probably held around the country.
This looks very useful to me.
Massad Ayoob, MAG-20 Course
July 30-31, 2011, Saturday-Sunday
Rangemaster, Memphis, TN
Armed Citizens' Rules of Engagement
This is a two-day, 20-hour immersion course in rules of engagement for armed law-abiding private citizens, emphasizing legal issues, tactical issues, and aftermath management. Topics will include interacting with suspects, witnesses, responding police officers…threat recognition and mind-set…management of social and psychological aftermath after having had to use lethal force in defense of self or others…and preparing beforehand for legal repercussions and minimizing exposure to them. Situations in the home, at the place of business, or "on the street" will all be covered. Prerequisite: none.

Tombstone, Ariz., which was the site of the legendary 1881 Gunfight at the O.K. Corral (made into a 1957 movie), is about 70 miles from the Tucson shopping center where a U.S. congresswoman, a federal judge and others were shot in January. A Los Angeles Times dispatch later that month noted that the "Wild West" of 1881 Tombstone had far stricter gun control than present-day Arizona. The historic gunfight occurred when the marshal (Virgil Earp, brother of Wyatt) tried to enforce the town's no-carry law against local thugs. Today, however, with few restrictions and no licenses required, virtually any Arizonan 18 or older can carry a handgun openly, and those 21 or older can carry one concealed. You may be able to put one on the road there.
They can be bought, less weapons.
I suggest you check out the kit car industry there.
You wouldn't have to go far to see the national show.
Even if you're not in the market, the industry is very lively there and interesting.
There are even some hypermilers made that do well.
Someone may be building what you want, or capable of it.
I would differentiate the complete frame and body vehicles as custom, rather than kit.
