I don't know if the guy was an idiot or not, he might have just wandered up to it to look, no knowing the opening had been undercut. I haven't read any reports yet that have said he was roping in to explore it.

Accidents happen, real quick, you know that. He wasn't doing anything that I know many eplayains haven't done themselves, me included.
I fucking know that. I just resent that so many resources go into entertaining young men and then getting them out of the messes they get into when they entertain themselves. It's one of my irrational inner streams of anger; it's not even like I had a brother who got more or better than I got. And, yes, I had suppressed a first draft when I realized that he was not, apparently, doing it intentional. Perhaps I left him dangling.

The excuse for that was time to run the "instant" background check.
I don't think they have it anymore, certainly nowhere I know of.
Just the "instant" background check that can take up to a year.

The razor edge of balance is often the difference between a scary moment and death.
I think it usually comes down to luck or a lack of understanding about how it works.
Many call it the "disneyland effect".

I think it's carelessness more often than risk taking.
We have a sheer cliff in arkansas that people routinely back over.
At a memorial for someone that fell, someone else backed over the edge.

People are especially known for deadly, stupid things in national parks.

The problem with search and rescue is often that the fast rescue puts the victim at risk.
That time and injury constraint was probably the problem in this case.
It's very hard for us to understand.

I found three cases of burglars that suffocated themselves while breaking in, two in UK, one asia (and a photo), and there was a stalker recently in the usa, female in a chimney.
It is surprisingly easy to block a door so that you lack the strength to free yourself.

I think this sort of thing looks worse because of the slow nature of it, but sometimes a mistake is all it takes, or luck.

I dangled my legs over the grand canyon, but what I'm thinking near a dropoff is, where do I go, when I slip?
I try to stay far on the safe side of that balance.
Fucking ladders scare me more than rappelling.

Fuck. All this talk about caves made me think about the time us kids found an abandoned silver mine, ran back to camp to tell Dad, then we grabbed a flashlight and all ran back to the cave. How exciting it was! Or so we thought. Dad, being a practical joker (NOT!), took us in there about 30-40 feet and then turned off the flashlight! Talk about fucking SCARY. I can hear that fucking laugh of his still....

Yeah, I know, huh? He was a pretty good joker. I got my evil funny sense of humor from him honestly. Another story. This one about my mom. Probably about 15 years ago. Me, Sammi, mom, Brian (ex-bf) were camping in Oregon. We brought 2 ice chests: 1 for canned drinks, 1 for food. Man, I had this soooo pre-planned for months. My mom, bless her heart, is deathly terrified of snakes. I'm not. Heh. So when she went wandering off, I put a black 2' long rubber snake in with the sodas. Deep down in the ice. And then like a panther waiting in stealth mode for its prey to come walking by so I could pounce on it, I waited patiently for her to go get a soda. It took forever, but it was soooooo worth it. Her scream was priceless, and probably could have been heard in Vancouver. The look of terror and horror was awesome!! But, I mean, it was funny. I'm talkin' terror like Janet Leigh in the shower scene of Psycho. But, c'mon...It was just a joke. Ha ha, mom, get it??? Well, there was no gettin' anything about it. The woman was pissed. Furious. She screamed the F-word so loud - with my name attached to it - and came running after me. She did not think it was funny. Not even to this day.

good news- I don't have carpal tunnel.

bad news- there's something wrong with the radial nerve in both arms, esp the right. Guess I should have tried to deal with it when it started instead of "pushing through" for the past couple of years. Fuck.

I've started physical therapy, this is another fucking block to getting a fucking job.

Sorry to hear that I hope it works out, painful shit ..... wears you down.

Hmmmm, anyone else?

I have similar symptons, although it's not isolated to just the arms, I had pains in my hams and the lower back at various points but the arms are a constant. I wake up with cotton mouth, and a congested nose (but both end with fluid in take and blowing my nose first thing in the morning). It's something systemic, I'm thinking a bacterial infection or something. I don't think it's lyme or lupus. Fibromyalgia? Dunno.

My wife thinks it has something to do with TFTITD..... figures... ha ha (she's never been, never plans to be). I did cut into my knuckle trying to compact the 2.5 gal plastic water containers on the Playa and it did get a bit infected. Funny thing was it barely bled, weird. I didn't have any symptons until New Years Eve so I'm doubting her diagnosis (and praying she's wrong).

I went to the doc-in-the-box, the blood work showed nothing (other than slightly elevated cholesterol, which I knew, and elevated kidney function) she starts talking about arthritis despite my insistence there's no joint issues. Needless to say she's not the best, the antibiotic she prescribed for the infection did squat (a $50 prescription no less) but it healed on it's own eventually. I only go to her because my original GP told me he couldn't deal with the insurance premiums any more and went off to become a lawyer (although last I heard he was practicing medicine on some reservation). I don't get sick often so never bothered to find another doctor.

I have an appointment with a rheumatologist on Mar 17th (which I made early-Feb). There's like a gazillion doctors in the practice and despite my willingness to go to any of their three offices thats the earliest appt. I could get.

The good thing is I'm out of work (did I just write that?) but there's no problem choking the chicken so at least I have something to do.

Mine comes from the "I've been in pain so long I'm just going to ignore this little thing" culture- less about being macho than just trying to live through constant daily levels of pain (I know you probably have that part worse than I). If I ran to the doctor every time I ached I would live on a cot in the office, as it is I'm in at least once a month and my file from the last few years is a couple of inches thick. I keep dreading the next bit to crumble.

Sometimes I would really love to find my fucking birth mother & give her a smack for whatever she was fucking doing to her body and mine when she was pregnant.

Yup. Adopted at around 3 days old by the best fucking parents you could hope for. They've done a great job with both my older brother & myself (both adopted, different birth parents)- both of us are happy, both well adjusted (*cough*), both in 20+ year relationships with wonderful partners...

*sigh*

They live out of state (Ogden- hi AntiM!) so we only get to see them about once a year. Fuck.
