California;

Population: 37.5 million.
Unemployed: 2.2 million.
Food stamp recipients: 3.7 million.
Total debt: $367 billion.
Debt/GDP ratio: 18.80%...

And, finally...

Total state debt per man, woman and child - working or not: $9,835!"
The $ 367 billion is a new one to me.
OK CSS, so the solution is simple. Everybody living in California simply needs to write a check for $9,835 and send it to the California treasurer and the problem is solved and we can put this thread to bed once and for all.

Same solution for the federal deficit. Taxes need to be raised across the board with the super rich bearing the greatest share of the burden.

Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

California revenues are running $ 1/2 billion a month behind projections.

CA GOV did not plan on the economy tanking. "California intends to sell $26.8 billion of tax-backed bonds" "faces a $19.1 billion deficit in the fiscal year that began July 1"
OK so, Ca. already faces a deficit of $ 19.1 billion and could face revenue shortages of $ 6 billion for the year. Things are going to get hot in Sacramento.
