Northwest UK Virgin, any more out there planning for 2011?

Post by Show_me_the_Sun » Thu Oct 21, 2010 10:46 am

If so, we've got less than a year to get it all together!!!

Can we do it?
Take a tent?
Share a tent?
Start a UK Camp?
Take (very) few clothes and lots of pasta & rice?
or, buy lots of pasta & rice and veggies in the US?
Find somewhere quiet?
Share stuff?
Fly into (where)?

Come on, what else do we need to do to organise this?

There are a few of us from Droylsden/Hyde/Stockport/Mid Wales going in 2011

It will be my first year, but we've already done some planning..

Read the masses of info on the BM website proper..

You will need enough water for a week in the desert...

+ lots of other stuff

We have a couple of seasoned burners, but most of us will be Virgins..

Some of us have put on parties/worked in desert conditions previously.. so are used to at least *some* of the climatic conditions

(I did archaeology in Northern Portugal where it is desert - in the Douro Valley.. and in the badlands of Alberta... so prepared to get dust in everything, even your arse crack)

PS - I'm claire, whats your name?

Yes, definitely do your reading! Starting here: http://www.burningman.com/first_timers/
Tents can be bought at Wal Mart, in Reno for about $40 to $50 for cheap ones. Buy your food and water in Reno, Yes, you will share stuff. If your renting a vehicle, use it to secure your tent/and or shade structure.
anything worth doing is worth overdoing..

We are booked to pick up RV in LA and drop off in San Fran ...

We are from Blackpool, Preston, Liverpool, Manchester & Mid Wales...

I am organising a meet up in Liverpool with one other person to get a consensus about organisation. Although we are committed to a camp which has very kindly offered to do a lot of the logistical stuff, it's always good to catch up with others who are making the schlep half way accross the planet to do this..

PM me if you want to meet up in Liverpool - its likely to be on the wknd of the 26-27th of this month...

Hi, can't believe my luck I'm from Blackburn. My name is Ian sampford 37 and have been going to festivals for about 17 years and have travelled all over Europe and Australia.I would love to meet up in Liverpool to discuss things. I'm flying into Reno on the Saturday, finding supplies and was going to find a ride share for the journey to the playa. Wot camp are you associated with? Any places left in the rv?
If I sound sane enough to join you please get in touch, facebook or pm I don't mind
cheers- Ian

It's amazing how few persons for Blackburn feel that lucky about it.

Hi there! I'm from the sunny capitol of this blessed island and hooked up with the london burners last night, there are more than a few planning to go this year too. Though for some reason when i mentioned eplaya the all looked nlankly at me. Also they seemed to think I knew what i was talking about. the ferret on crack syndrome i am afflicted with didn't seem to change there minds either.
