There's a wide variety of approaches towards alcohol on the playa. You can rest assured that there are some people who drink even less than you do.

This is a question for the camps with bars.If someone wanted to gift mixers what type of mixers would be welcomed?

You have SO struck on a good point. BARS LOVE MIXERS! There is often plenty of liquor, but not enough mixer. Every bar has a different type or types of liquor, but a few good bets:

Tonic, Bloody Mary Mix, Margarita Mix, Clamato, and OJ.

You're the only other person I know that likes Ginger ale for cocktails. Canadian Club and Ginger ale was a popular drink in the old days.

Another mixer to consider would be coke, or generic coke along with a few cans of red bull. Speaking of red bull, that's a great gift to give at gate or greeters if your coming in a few hours before sun rise (just not during gate crash).

@graidawg - I will bring hair color and personally color your hair if you show up while I'm around. Although your not allowed to know the color.. deal?

I will be gifting a normal work weeks worth of time volunteering again this year. To a few really lucky people I might gift them a hug from me.

That sounds excellent! i've had blue before and blonde makes me look like the prototype for gay but coloured is a most excellent idea!

I'mna be working on some swell patches since that is what I quit my job for.. doing machine embroidery at home. I'm all excited.

and one of the best gifts I got last year was a nifty metal springy dragonfly. The camp behind us had a rad knicknacky stuff sitting on a log and would every once in a while offer up something. I had know Idea. I love it though.

Some gifts I've received that were cool/awesome/perfect at the moment.

Went riding in the morning and was heading back hungry. Right on the esplanade was a camp with a production line creating home made waffles. They had batter, waffle irons and they just churned out tons of fresh waffles for the line of dusty Burners. For toppers, they had big chilled bowls of fruit. Zomg..

After hours of hot, dusty playa exploration omw back to camp to fuel up my tummy again I randomly found out on the playa a hot dog stand giving out free hot dogs and sodas/water. Heaven. Never made it back to camp that day till way late because of these gems.

Beers/waters/neat patches and snacks while working at Greeters. Some people came through with CARE packages for us and it rocked.

Good conversations
Super cool lighter with a BM cover made for it
Some awesome postcards made on playa from photos taken there
Jewelry
Frozen grapes from a lovely fellow who was walking along our Exodus line handing em out. I kissed him.

Fresh baked choc chip cookies. I made and froze raw balls of dough at home and baked em up on playa. Yum.

Emergen-C packets with a bottle of water to those who looked like they really needed em
A pair of tennis shoes to a dude who had his stolen
Massages
Lent a hand with a yurt, a tent and cleaning up several neighbors camps when they weren't prepared for the wind
Beers/cold waters for Gate/Greeters

Tons more that I can't think of atm. Gifting is hella fun, both giving and receiving.

This year my sweetie and I want to make a living room set out of the Playatech furniture ( http://www.playatech.com ), paint it, create a ton of fun, crazy, colorful cushions and create a seating area/living room shaded space out in front of our camp to welcome in folks who want to hang, rest, whatever.

Up until now our camp "living room" wasn't very approachable in it's location and arrangement and not very visibly appealing (buncha folding camp chairs). We're not a theme camp but I thought it would be nice for people who need a rest, want to come meet us, need a nap...

A gift for others and a gift for our camp!

Last year I bought a couple dozen pairs of sunglasses. I would ride out towards the man, look for people shielding their eyes and give them a pair. It felt good giving something that was actually needed.
