keg problems on playa??

Post by eggchairsteve » Tue Jul 20, 2004 9:58 pm

We're planning on bringing quite a few kegs of beer (by way of refrigerated beer trailer) And I've heard (somewhat second-handedly) of keg problems on the playa, such as pressure, foamming, etc.
Has anyone had a bad experiences with kegs on the playa, or have other advice?

Think: how many bars did you drive past on your last visit through Gerlach?

A refrigerated beer trailer? You shouldn't have any problems, they're made to pour beer. I've been bringing full size and homebrew kegs over the years in homemade styrofoam coolers. With proper pressure and line lengths we've had very few problems. Temperature and gas leaks were the problems we did experience. I suggest you bring spare gaskets, clamps, fittings, taps, and an extra CO2 tank. I know I will. I look forward to hopping by.

Wondering if the lower air pressure @ 4000 ft makes any difference.

hey steve!
thanks for the stickers by the way!!!

look into a "jockey box", there was a recent thread around here that had a good receipe for one.
they are good to use as you don't have to keep a whole keg cool, just feed the lines through a cooler with aluminum coils inside that are covered with ice. then two or so taps mounted on the outter cooler wall. excllent way to go.

check it out! playa pete always brings one with mulitiple kegs.
cheers,
