Potential Burner from San Francisco

Post by turtlekid54 » Sun Mar 20, 2011 2:56 pm

Hi Burners,

I've been wanting to go to BM for a very long time. It seems like every year I make a plan to attend with a group of friends. As the date nears they drop one by one with one excuse or another, leaving my camp empty.

As expected its happened again this year, but I don't want to wait until next year. I would like to join a camp and not have to go solo.

Would I be able to connect with a local camp?

Word, you can't throw a dead baby unicorn without hitting someone in a Burning Man theme camp here.

Lol, I guess that was a really stupid question. It did all start here anyway. Thanks for the link!

Nah, the stupidest question is always the one you don't ask. Welcome to EPlaya

You'll have to pardon us for having a little giggle about a SF citizen who wonders if anyone local is going to the Burn. :)

I think you've realized that the trick for you will be to meet practiced Burners rather than count on your friends. Yes, they're chickens, but it's not an easy feat either, is it? Or you'd not be a virgin still today.

Welcome!

Haha, I understand the giggles. I wasn't wondering if anyone local was going. My question was more about if camps are open to include people who are looking for a camp to join. I was hoping to get pointed in the direction on where I could find such camps.

I should have phrased it better.

Anyway, I've been browsing the camp list from last year to get contact info from different camps and inquire if any of them would be kind enough to welcome in a virgin.

If there is another way for someone to find such camps, please let me know.

Thanks! :D

I started a thread on joining a camp that's in the 2011 Theme Camp sub-forum. It may, or may not, help.

Yes, I did a bit of browsing through that thread. It does help. That's how I got pointed to the list from last year.

I also found a thread that discusses camps for BM virgins. You mentioned a "Stag Camp" in the thread.

Thanks for your help!

There is also a BM Virgins Tribe for each year over on tribe.net. I'm not sure if the '11 tribe has been started yet, but there shouldn't be too much "burnier than thou" over there.

My camps based out of the East Bay...the less flakier side...and up north...even LESS flakier! If you want to join a theme camp, all we ask is the soul of your first born. I cant remember a year, when someone didn't flake! Seems bred into the Bay Area Culture...

That's what you get when you have a bunch of open-ended, open-minded, easily distracted population fascinated with possibilities. I want a Burningman I can set my watch to!
