Anticipation already augmenting!

Post by Moongar » Mon Mar 21, 2011 1:43 pm

I'm a virgin from Denver looking forward to participating this year. I've been interested in making the journey for 10 or so years but never got around to actually doing it. Heading out and camping with 1 friend Tuesday-ish through Sunday-ish. I've been lurking for the past 2 or so months, reading and re-reading anything that seemed relevant. I've read a bunch that seemed irrelevant and learned a lot from it, too. I've progressed down my list to what I call "Phase II: Acquisition," which has included phone calls to friends, visits to local hardware stores and revisiting the plethora of bookmark's I created for online vendors.

Just wanted to take some time to say "Hi and THANKS!" to everyone who contributes here, I've had a blast studying shade structures, structuring evaporation ponds, and pondering just about everything else.

Yaaaay, Moongar, Destroyer of Worlds.

(I just liked how that sounded.)

You sound like the kind who prepares to the teeth. Most excellent. Welcome!

Hey there, welcome to eplaya!
Elderberry

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

To my knowledge I haven't destroyed any worlds yet, although there is still plenty of time left to do so.

I certainly am a preparer. I would feel like a fool if I didn't take advantage of this wealth of knowledge that is at my finger tips. I'll spend more time getting ready now so that I (hopefully) will have less to "worry" about on playa.

Hi there and welcome. I too am from Denver and just wondered if you go to any of our local events? You should check out Apogaea.com. It is our regional and is not too far from denver. you could test out your equipment before heading out to the playa. Apo is really fun and a good way to meet some of the local community!

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.

Curiousgnate - I have checked out the Apo website. I travel a lot for work and the schedule is pretty unpredictable so unfortunately I can't plan that far in advance (all my vacation time is spoken for). I have been checking out the Colorado Burning Man Community webpage and am hoping to be able to make it to an event in the next week.
