What kind of gods can't have their cake and eat it, too? when you've changed the daggone sheets ten times a shift, you are ready for a change Hardly seem worth a sacrifice, really.ygmir wrote:that's a different sport.MyDearFriend wrote:So, I guess it depends yeah I'm a nurse I love/hate those things on the deity then? Makes sense to me! I personally believe that promoting the more pleasantly pleasurable sins helps to right the balance of the universe. No sacrifice required.Dr. Pyro wrote:Using that logic, which I happen to agree with, then since Jesus died for our sins, the very least we could do is commit some worthy of his sacrifice.

war heros go, drink mead, eat pork, and dally the maidens all night, fight and kill or be killed all day, then, do it again. ad infinitum.
The whole pantheon, is filled with sexual liasons....and, Loki......now don't get me started there........
dang, I can just imagine all the sheet changes....yuk

ah yg, loki my personal favorite! comparable to coyote in the native american tradition or prometheus.
He's the trickster god bringer of fire to mankind, plays games not through malicious intent but just for the hell of it, and what do they get but punished!
The trickster gods play a very strong part in helping us poor mortals and always seem to be done over by the other gods for it!
anyhoo, lets all go and find a virgin (eep thats me) and do some sacrificing of some sort or another (hope trishntek doesnt read this i'm in anough trouble with them already)

For those interested in seeing this idea come to fruition - and fun, unique theme camp as well - I'll give you a simple formula:
Committed participants = Valhalla is a go!
and its corrollary:
Not enough committed participants = Valhalla remains a neat idea and UD may just stay home.
Here is what this camp would need to make it work:
A unique structure that could be pointed out as the Hall of the Slain, Valhalla. This will take designers, builders, materiel, transportation
Other structures, including Bifrost, the Rainbow Bridge.
Einherjar, Viking participants eager to offer in boffer combat and cook up succulent pork dishes.
Valkyries, sultry maidens skilled in finding and choosing valorous warriors.
A few camp thralls around to help with menial duties wouldn't help either...

i'm also willing to help with construction or teach reasonably safe combat given suitable weopons, though bringing my own would take a fair bit of my luggage allowance

Bloody good!
If you consider yourself a Celt, especially if you're from Ireland or Scotland and have red hair...
...well, I'm going to let Ygmir tell you the truth about your heritage.
Weapons need to be limited to boffers. We learned about this at Barbarian Camp in 2009. The BLM lads are rather unsympathetic regarding steel swords, whether sharp or rebated.
Flamethrowers, suspension performance, fine, but no swords....
Graidawg, do you come from a folkish or reenactment background?
