Not wanting to be a buzzkill, but having had somewhat extensive contact with the BMOrg DMV, that mutant vehicle would never be allowed in BRC. It will need to be radically altered, which it isn't right now. I understand that you know it's currently just a piece of crap, but if it even remotely looks like a "normal" vehicle it will not be licensed. I would suggest you Google mutant vehicles from Burningman and look at them very carefully. I myself had a MV, that had been OK for three years, suddenly get nixed because it "...still looked like a truck..." which, in fact, it sort of did. We had to completely overhaul our first MV Tieland and made it Barbie's Mobile Whorehouse, and even then in 2009 we were on Double Secret Probation. So a word to the wise: Know what you're doing and look at the big picture. A bitchen MV to you is just another crappy golf cart to the DMV Hotties. Just sayin.
Hi Lucideo. Welcome!
You have until June 30, 2011 to apply for your Mutant Vehicle license. The Black Rock City DMV will want to see "a unique, motorized creation that shows little or no resemblance to their original form, or to any standard street vehicle. Mutant Vehicles are radically, stunningly, (usually) permanently, and safely modified from their base vehicle."
Info about: Black Rock City's Department of Mutant Vehicles, Vehicle Protocols in Black Rock City, & The Mutant Vehicle Licensing Process and more, begins here:
http://www.burningman.com/on_the_playa/ ... index.html
More specifically:
http://www.burningman.com/on_the_playa/ ... teria.html
And some examples:

Good luck to you!

Lucideo, unless you've gotten some really abusive PMs I would suggest you reread the responses, nothing but helpful suggestions as far as I can see which is what you originally asked for. It would be a shame to have your work and inspiration sitting in the impound lot at the gate for a simple failure to adhere to guidelines.
It's always better to seek information than validation.
Good luck on your project, I hope to see it on the playa in all it's tricked out glory.
Welcome to ePlaya.

I'm sorry Lucideo that you placed me on your DISALLOW list. I tried to send you a very positive suggestion off board that would have helped. It's what we finally did to get our art vehicle OK'ed. But clearly I must be some kind of heartless ogre and somehow breaft of the spirit of Burning Man. Get over yourself kid.
aww, he's a high school kid that needs surgery...a virgin...and yet he's ambitious enough to try to do a mutant vehicle. props for that.
i just wandered around my first year. 12 years later i still don't have a mutant vehicle, nor would i attempt one.
but do listen up, the elders do know of what they speak.

Most of the people who post on ePlaya are good and decent -- although you may not want them in your house.
A few are grumpy, degenerate losers who have some sort of problem, but they are in the vast minority.
I wish I had the means to offer assistance with your build, there is nothing better than passion and amition to do something wonderfully retarded like a mutant vehicle. Post some more photos with updates.

You are to be applauded for your enthusiasm at mere high school age! But if you have been looking a pictures of MVs going back a decade or two, then you need to be aware that the standards for MVs have risen dramatically in recent years. And a single-seater needs to be truly spectacular, since much of the point of allowing MVs is to provide transportation and fun for others -- not just yourself.
An other point is that for your first burn... you might want to go with as few encumbrances as possible. Believe me, in your first year, your mind will have plenty to do, even without an MV. I'm guessing you might want to concentrate on shelter, shade and costumes for your first year.
Driving an MV is a big responsibility in a pedestrian/bicycle environment. If you are constantly turning your head to look at Stuff, then you might very well run over somebody. A good alternative is a pedal-powered vehicle; these are unrestricted.
See you on the Playa!

I thank all of you for posting, I do regret acting like a foolish child. I am bitting off more than I can handle. Dr. Pyro, tom servo, and all the others who have posted I am sorry. Times for me are hard as it is for you I'm sure, let's all forget the MV and have the time of our lives. Yes I am a noob and yes I'm still a child

Save the trike for tearing up the hood and take some notes or get ideas from the playa. Don't worry about being or doing any more than you can -- you have enough on your plate as it is.Lucideo wrote:I thank all of you for posting, I do regret acting like a foolish child. Chill in the desert, look at naked people and crazy artwork, watch the sun rise as your day ends and relax. Realizing you're a kid gives you some maturity points, it's an odd paradox.
We all do stupid things once in a while and the anonymity of boards like this makes us sort of forget we're not the only idiot staring at a screen.
If you can make it to BRC, you'll be welcomed openly. Just mind laws and common sense and relax.
