And to you Minxy. If you do get married and want a spot to wed, or just want a a nice shot of the two of you, look for our art project on the playa. Here's a link to let you see it:Minxy wrote:I met my playa love (and fiance) 4 years ago on the playa.
I've lived with him for two years, now, living with him in the Bay Area (moved from Portland). We plan on getting married this year, possibly at Burning Man as well.
Congrats to you both, Dr. Helix. It certainly DOES happen!

Well regardless of the legal part, you owe yourself a ceremony out there. Who says you have to have just ONE wedding?Minxy wrote:Awesome!!
We are in the deciding phase of when and where to marry. Marry earlier to get me on his insurance...or wait and do it at Burning Man? Decisions, decisions...
I LOVE the pics!!!!!!!!!

This is true.
We may have to have three.
One for the legal mumbo jumbo for insurance and what not, one for US on the playa where we would love to have a ceremony.
And....one for my bossy mother, who is whining and guilt-tripping us that if we do it on the playa she will be really mad cause she wouldn't be caught dead at Burning Man.
She's more of a Sak's and Nordstroms person and thinks Burning Man is the stupidest thing she's ever heard of...poor, confused mom!

The art will be at 5:30 and 2100 and the ceremony will be on Wednesday and start at about 7pm. Champagne and a reception to follow. Please come if you wish.....I've extended this to the group at large. Should be a memorable occasion!!!!

Awww, congrats! That's really amazing
I'm going to surprise my husband with a "second wedding" on the playa (since our first one blew). Can't wait!

Re: Falling in love at burning man...
In July 2010, I met the love of my life.
I was camping several hours from where I live, in what I believe to be is the most beautiful place on earth (Mono County.) I happened to start talking to a very handsome man...and that handsome man ended up at my campsite that night with a bottle of Seagrams. At one point he fell (he says that I "pushed" him) into the fire, but when he stood up he said "I AM the Burningman!" I had only met this man a few hours before, but was instantly in love.
"Have you been to Burningman?" I asked.
"No," he replied, "have you?"
"I've never been. Do you want to go this year?" I asked.
And we did.
We were married by an unsuspecting couple that we asked (on a whim) to marry us on the day of the burn last year, 2010. We talk every single day on the phone and online. Our schedules don't allow us to see each other more than 4-6 times per year...but he IS the love of my life. And he knows it! He is going to BM without me this year because he bought his ticket when we thought that I might still be able to go. He says he isn't going to return without me after this year.
Eeeeeeeiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! I love him!
