Looking to join an established camp

Post by jordiebsocal » Thu Mar 31, 2011 1:17 pm

Hey Guys and Gals of eplaya!! My name is Jordan. Live in LA and am attending Burning man for the first time this year. Been wanting to go for the past 5 years, but something has always come up. My neighbor Ben has gone the last 4 years and is going with me this year. He has stayed with a camp or two in the past, but as it is my first burn and his 5th.... we were hoping to find a cool established camp to join. We are both TOTALLY avid campers and don't mind at all helping out with the responsibilities involved with being a member. Also don't mind paying any fee that might be involved. Hit me up if anyone has any ideas. Thanks soo much!!!! Cant wait to come home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

well... the first camp he stayed with he had a good time with, but they were all friends from LA. Kinda want to meet some new ppl. There is another camp that we were given the green light on this year, but as far as green was concerned, they gave us the red light. I'm from so cal and love my green. I'm sure you catch my drift being that your name is luckey420. haha We spoke to some members that stayed with them and said every time he lit up and they knoticed... it seemed like they were scoffing at him even though they were partaking in all sorts of other favors. I know kinda weird. but thats life.

They might have objected to your friend's indiscretion in a camp's public or semi-public area. This could have gotten them all in trouble. An officer of the law could spot it or smell something illegal from the road, and based on that, do searches of immediately related areas or people who had had the "good sense" to behave more discreetly.

In your search for a camp, be far more discreet and appropriate about to who you disclose your activities (and don't make anyone transport you or conceal anything without their knowledge) or you will see yourself getting rejected again and again.

Totally. I have my California lisence and plan on getting my Nevada lisence up on the way out. I do understand the issue considering the smell of really good medicine. Then again I really dont need to have it around. I just want to have a good time while out there... which I know I will. thanks for the advice though :)

Many Theme Camps have threads in this sub-forum. I suggest you show them your self-reliamce by contacting them, rather than waiting for them to find you. If I was running a theme camp this year, I would only take on folks who demonstrated some initiative. :)

Nevada has some of the toughest drug laws in the country, and you'll be on Federal land. Smoking pot anywhere that it can be smelled or seen can & will get you & your campmates busted, CA Medical card or not.

I suggest you guys do your own totally cool camp, and just travel around exploring a lot. There's no need to join a large camp, and I can't think of any that are going to let anyone they don't know who's so blatant about drug-use join.

You can get a nevada medical mj license. Pretty sure you have to be a resident and prove it (just like in cali) and you won't get one immediately either. If your busted (1st or 2nd) offense here with under an oz most likely you will only get a fine (around $700). That is not a guarantee though and I am not a lawyer (I just play one on tv)

All that being said if you still want to indulge; wrap it well and conceal it, drive smartly, be smart at your camp and keep it on the dl...

Oh yeah edibles work wonders too

Please remember it is a violation of the TOS to tell folks how to get around the law. I'm sure you can have this pleasant conversation off the board.

Don't make me be the bad guy, m'kay?

Thank you.

S'alright, just a reminder not to take it further.
