Over a thousand, under ten thousand. Yes on the engineering review, but the insurance policy was not contingent upon it. All the best to you, Espresso!EspressoDude wrote:expensive? as in how much? thousands? tens of thousands?Mister Jellyfish Mister wrote:We purchased event insurance for Ein Hammer last year and it was expensive, with an intensive application process. At least it never fell down and "nailed" anybody-- yuk yuk.

If you are referring to Lawn Darts, I've looked without success. We wanted them for last year and simply cannot find them.FIGJAM wrote:Yawn darts?

One of my new joys is running over bubble wrap. It doesn't make up for what I lost, but it's kinda cool in its own right.

Does size matter? The bigger the bubble the louder? Or do you prefer small bubbles popping rapid fire? Details please!theCryptofishist wrote:One of my new joys is running over bubble wrap. It doesn't make up for what I lost, but it's kinda cool in its own right.

This opens up an idea for a camp about excessive safety: I can see you guys all walking around with bicycle helmets and life-saving equipment. Sort of a "Fire Marshall Bill" kind of thing too. You could go around gifting novelty insurance waivers stating that Larry Harvey will pay $1000 if you get herpes and gonorrhea at BM.
There is already a camp dedicated to excessive safety, Alaska Camp, where safety comes 1st and 3rd. Need to be safe? Well, it's come meet an Alaskan day! Everyday at 4:20pm, join us in our safe dome to discuss safe procedures and share safe stories. No joke, walk in as a dangerous sparkle pony disaster, leave as a safe sex fairie. Arrive as a drunkard that was so wasted the fucking Spenard Bar had to 86 you, leave with the spins because you shouldn't try to be safe when that drunk. Safety 1st & 3rd

Theme Camp Liability and Insurance
You are absolutely correct that there is a real liability exposure if someone gets hurt out at Burning Man. Either that person or their family decide to take legal action against the theme camp. This has happened in the past. My colleague and I are insurance geeks who as Burners ourselves saw a need for a liability product to protect participants. We’ve just launched our website this week – go to www.insuranceontheplaya.com. There you will be able to quickly and easily get a quote whether you’re a theme camp, artist or want liability for your art car.
Hi - not sure why the page didn't load. Please try it again, although it may be necessary to clear out your cache. Alternatively, put the search terms "burning man" and "insurance" into Google and about half way down the page you'll see a link for "Liability Program for Participants of the Burning Man Event." Please let me know if you continue to have difficulty.

Very good point!addison4 wrote:For every burner that goes there is a worried mother at home ready to press charges.
My lawyer might be flying in half way through the week this year. But he is there to "party my old gray ass off, while my kids aren't around".
Though, he has been talking about flying in for a couple years, I doubt it will ever happen.

Liability at Burning Man? hah
you wont have any Liability at Burning Man if you and everyone in your camp just uses fake playa names! hah
They cant sue you, if they cant find you!
hahaha
I would think that official Theme Camps would fall under the BMorg use at your own risk policy, just because theme camps are approved parts of the Burning Man event.
Now that I think of it, the BMorg's use at your own risk policy is for the entire event grounds, which it lined out by the trash fence, so anything within that fence would be held to the overall policies of event.
I still think fake names is your safest bet!
