Good Deal on 10x10 Kodiak Tent's

Post by VeganChoirGirl » Thu Mar 17, 2011 10:12 am

So, I have ordered and had official luck with Uplander's Warehouse, so I feel safe to suggest them!

Currently they have 10x10 Kodiak tents on sale for $379 and FREE shipping. That's a really good deal! If you have an interest in the Kodiak, I would say now is the time to check it out! Thought I would share for those of you that might be interested!

I have purchased both Kodiak and Springbar tents. Both have been to the Playa.
Both are good tents, but in my book, Springbar is superior to Kodiak.
Last year I left Burning Man Tuesday night after the event. I wanted to leave by noon, but tremendous white-out high winds kept me from taking down the tents! When I got home, the Springbar had a lot less dust than the Kodiak. Both were relatively clean inside, but the Kodiak had taken a LOT of Playa inside the window screens. The Kodiak, which was new, also developed a stuck spot on the door zipper first trip out.
Springbar is also made in the U.S., which is a positive point for me.
Price on both tents is comparable. I just upgraded to the next larger Vagabond tent for this years Burn. It may make its virgin voyage to fourth of Juplaya.....

That is the first negative review of a Kodiak I have ever seen.

I have 2 Kodiaks, a 10x10 and a 10x 14, that have made it to the playa several years in a row and on other camping ventures and regionals. Never had a dust issue inside the tents even with the top vents open, zippers have never had issues.

Kodiaks are around $100 cheaper than the equivalent sized Springbar and have more features, like a gear loft and steel stakes, that cost extra on the Springbars.

No matter what type of tent you get, you will want a shade of some type over the top of it. Unless you like waking up as soon as the sun rises. Light colored canvas tents basically turn into a giant light box once the sun comes up and hits them.

But you have to admit, canvas is not NEARLY as bad as nylon in the heat department.

Just sayin'

I know it is nice to have shade, but I am flying in to Reno and can't bring too much stuff. Are there any simple shade I can bring and build?
