I guess I'll be a tourist dressed for the desert (with a good hat, a camera and a Camelbak!), especially while I'm volunteering.

I'm kooky enough and don't need some superficial costume (and fucking heat stroke) to be myself. Then again, I found the people who cared the most about this shit, or "enforcing" some petty rules generally were the most boring and useless.

Speaking of rules, I'm all for the rules and guidelines that keep us alive and happy (like ride your bike the right way down the street with lights at night or bring an ocean of water to the desert or treat people well) but the arbitrary ones I can do without.

How does one "properly" burn? I imagine there are about 50,000 answers to that and they're all wrong and right.

IMHO, the proper burn, is the one that makes you happy.

It reminds me of the term, "SPHINCTER POLICE" which is used toward those self-appointed hall monitors, door stop user prevention teams and the infamous scrub nurse insisting on an abdominal xray of a surgical patient because the Bookwalter Post was not present in the final instrument count.
