Hoping to do my first Burn this year...

Post by rabidziggy » Mon Apr 04, 2011 9:30 pm

Hi! I've wanted to go to Burning Man for quite awhile, but haven't had the means until now. I'm definitely considering it and have been devouring literature on how to prepare and what to bring. I love adventure and as an artist I'm excited by the possibilities that BM provides.

However, I can't seem to find anyone to go with, which is a little intimidating for my first time. Should I try to join a camp? Should I just go it alone and see what happens? Any and all advice would be awesome. :)

Go on your own, or go with a camp...either way, you won't be alone! Make friends here, and plans to meet them....which probably won't happen. But welcome Home!

Hey there, welcome to eplaya!

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

I went solo my first year (unplanned) and it was amazing. You don't need to bring friends from real life out there to enjoy it. (might even be better that way?)

Orphan camp is just starting to get organized for this year if you want to camp with a group, but it's definitely not necessary.

Welcome!

Be sure to read the survival guide, Q&A, and share resources.

My camp plans crumbled my first year (several times in fact) in the end just two weeks before BM 2010, I decided not go go solo (I could have if I wanted to) and I went with a theme camp I met here on eplaya...very interesting experience! I was also fortunate enough to make my own schedule, this was goooood, there's so much to see and do...

mudpuppies' camp sounds like a good balance, as a burgin I think you'll want freedom but also some burners to orient you and send you on your way(s)
I'm the MAN in a truck, burner who is stuck, you're in luck! I'll whip out my BIG tow chain and not charge you, not even one lousy buck!
