They are really easy to make, just take time. It requires 5 or 6 specialty tools though. I'm planning to post a step by illustrated instruction page to one of my web sites as soon as I can find a few spare hours - maybe after the Easter rush is past. Lately a 36 hour day wouldn't be enough to get everything done.

Ikea's coffee is oddly good as well and inexpensive. Their batteries defy laws of physics and last forever. Plus they're yellow and look wonderfully generic.Bounce530 wrote:Ikea=swedish walmart, lol. I've found their batteries to be the best for the price.
This weekend I picked up a couple 12 packs of soda (for mixers) the grocery store had a coupon, that made the 12 packs .98 cents each!! Gotta find more of those coupons.
There is an Ikea in Austin, I should go there to find a cheap rug and some lights. I forgot all about them, thanks for the tip.

Funny. I just heard about that episode when I was trying to tell my (technology-challenged) dealer about BM on Tuesday. He was wondering if it's some kind of cult or religious group. He doesn't have (or want) a computer. He does watch tv tho. His girlfriend gifted him one recently.Watched Malcolm in the Middle Burning Man Episode.
"Fan her head!" the Red Queen anxiously interrupted. "She'll be feverish after so much thinking."

Picked up a pack of 22 assorted spring clamps at the Depot tonight for 6.92 Nothing I'd be likely to use in the shop, but for keeping things from blowing away they should work great.

Well I was thinking more along the lines of anchoring my plate down while I eat and stuff along those lines, not for anything critical.

One thing at a time???
Today.... I might go thrifting.
I wont be investing 500$ in the shade thing until after I pay my car maintenence. :)
I've had a epiphany with the 'decorated' night boots and I'm waiting on another order from gloplanet or wherever. My bike has no idea what to wear.
Has anyone ever made a PVC & sheet, swingset-shaped shower stall before?
Ever made a collapseable tripod for ye olde black bag of warm water?
Going to be tricky.

Hey westnileraven . . .
I see nothing wrong with a swing set style design, though I have no experience with the advantages or disadvantages. In 2008 and 2009 my campmate and I used a white PVC pipe shower structure shaped like . . . well, a shower (or phone booth). We stood on a wooden pallet and put the structure & pallet directly on our evap pond (look up "grey water" on the main burningman.com site to see that particular pond recipe). Worked great for two people. We didn't stake it, & so just tipped the structure over when not in use or even pulled it apart in 2 places and weighted it. It was shielded in part by our shade. I suppose a swingset design might be even easier to fold and lay down, possibly.
If I built a PVC shower again I might make it almost 7 feet tall (once assembled) instead of 6, so that there is more room to stand under it. Because of the length of the bag and hose, one needs more room than imagined.
We used shower curtain rings (measured before purchase to make sure they would fit over the PVC) and three shower curtains. We tied them aside when not in use so as not to catch the wind, and took the bag down. (Even a good shower bag can rip if left hanging with a lot of water in it, and should at least be left flat if not entirely empty.)
Sheets would work just fine too, and be washable, prettier and more responsible than buying and trashing plastic. Those are a good idea.

Received coat yesterday - it is friggin amazing.
Looking into EL wire to trace piping on uniform, coat and hat. I am thinking white to "blend" with the silver piping during the day.
Struggling with tent purchase - was about to order a teepee style for lower profile in wind, then the 16 year old looked at the pic and asked if we were going to put a clothes rack up and it we were, where would it go...
Damn kids....

Oh oh oh I found a new razor that promised to work without shave cream, I was dubious but scummy shave cream in the grey water is not good, so I tried it today and
WOW
smooth as silk, no foamy bubbles and it sure is nice to be able to see what's what when I am doing the fiddly bits in the middle, gosh!
Sorry if this is TMI for you guys, though I see no reason why it would not work just as well on men's faces. Or whatever.
I know some of y'all must tame the savage garden, am I right?
Not selling anything AntiM but here it is: Venus Breeze.

went garage sale/thrift store hunting with kenman today. Loved loved loved the day. He is so much fun.
Anyway, found two big bags of assorted doll parts, some barbie parts, some just weird doll parts. heads, arms, wigs. Three bucks for all. Not sure what to do with all this randomness, but have it all strewn on the floor pondering. Kenman says I need to pick ONE project and complete it before i buy anymore random parts of anything (hmphtf, i have to step over and around the carcass of the pvc bike in the living room, around the shredded tent in the dining room, push back the sewing machine on the dining room table when i want to eat) I don't know WHAT he is talking about.

Managed to thoroughly embarrass my wife at the thrift store, although she did loosen up about it after a bit and acually grabbed a lacy micro mini sk.. err kilt saying how cute it would look on our son. Luckily he wasn't interested so I won't have to fight him over it lol.
Managed to find a few things with kilt or costume potential, but being 6'2 and 240 pounds most of the stuff that fits me was just downright frumpy looking.
We also found several nice large brim hats. I'll be adding chin straps and am trying to think of some way to decorate the straw ones.

Picked up 1946 & 47 hit parade disc's. Also a disc player boom box (radio size). It has a Ipod in port and speaker out port.. This will be coupled into the old equiliser amp.. Keeping it portable enough to put onto different rigs..
Thinking it would be fun to ask people to lip synic through a old paper megaphone..
Right now, Come Raine or Come Shine (!946) is playing..
The same year, The Old Lamplighter come out.. Anyone want to preform that at the lamplighter camp

This is NOT a problem... until the end of July. I find oddly started projects from four years ago that still haven't made it to the playa. They are just still aging, like fine wine. I don't necessarily love the shoe box treasure hunts that are starting about this time of year, but it's another opportunity to get my shit in order once and for all. HAAAA HA AHAHA HAHAAAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHHAHAHA! "I know I already have some flashing multi color led's!, more triplite rope, and CR2032 batteries!"tamarakay wrote:*adding venus breeze to the list*

I found some of last years leftover vinegar when we cleaned out the garage.
We have since started a system where whenever we find some burn worthy-esque odd or end it gets thrown in a designated box so it doesn't go missing again. We'll leave it to May/June to organize because that's when we start fixin' the bus!

OK, I found the base for the new playapod.

Its got 7 half inch leaf springs mounted to the top of the axle, so it's 26" high.
I want to lower it about 8"s, so I'll remove 3 leafs and sling them from the bottom of the axle.
Inside dimentions are 6x8.
I'll show my work as I go.

Thanks! I've been holding out till the last possible moment to buy my materials, but idle hands and and active mind don't go together, so I cobbled together some steel plates and heavy guide pins I found laying about in the shop at work. I will post some pictures of the jig when it's fully good to go. There is a nice electro-hydraulic 20 ton press in my shop at work, so I HAD to make use of it :pMartiansky wrote:Melodius....
Those smashed ends are beautiful! Very nice job!
When I built my dome I used the ol' 3 pound mini sledge hammer and a piece of I beam looking stuff to smash'em on! I made sure to wear hearing protector ear muffs too because it is LOUD when youre mashin'em in the basement!
