Southwest flights from Chicago-Reno are like $199 each way right now. It'd be cheaper to fly with the cost of gas. I don't see it going down anytime soon...just sayin!

Chicago has an awesome burner scene. Go to burningman.com and look at the regional info to find Chicago/Illinois resources.

You could also check out the west Michigan, Detroit, and SW Ontario groups in addition to the Chicago one. Along with keep an eye out for posters from Ft. Wayne, the Toledo group, and the Cleveland group. Since everyone will be taking 80 anyway.. You may want to consider the Cincinnati, Athens, and Pittsburgh groups as an alternative long shot.

Lastly, rideshare.burningman.com will be updated soon enough for this years event.

yah, what robrob said. <3

also, dustyroller...my crew is taking the train from chicago to reno. you can bring more gear for free than you can on a plane and it's the same cost as flying or a bus. plus you can get up, walk around, meet people on the train and you get to enjoy the scenery. perfect compression/decompression time! :)

...and food for thought.

I personally elected to fly into Reno, rent a car, and drive in solo (Solito!). You can get stocked in Reno, pickup a used bike in Gerlach, or a K-Mart special in Reno, and then sleep/basecamp in your car if you are comfy with the idea.

The flight gave me two checked and one carry-on at no additional cost.

If I was in a group, however, I think the train would be very appealing.

Have a wonderful burn!

Me encontrare abajo del sol, y solito pues. Hasta cuando me llego a casa - solito no mas, y sin querer.
