Post by a figment » Fri Mar 25, 2011 8:31 pm

Hi all figured if I was going to be browsing I might as well give up and register, third year to burning man. met some of you at meet and greet with my better half last year. I am sure will meet more this year, for now this will have to be a poor substitute for dust.

Hey there, welcome to eplaya!

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realized that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me

Yeah. No shit on getting things ready.

I'm now calling Burning Man a hobby. If I actually told anyone, which I wouldn't, it would seem difficult to justify the time and money.

Who am I kidding?

But I do think the dust permanently affects you...

Huuzzza! figment is on eplaya, woot!

Question, if I've seen a figment, and so has some of the people in this thread, does that mean it's a shared figment?

Did you know the IRS allows one to write off hobby expenses...but only if you itemize on Schedule A, and only up to the extent of income derived from said hobby...

OK...just remembered, we can't sell anything at Burning Man...forget everything above...

This will be my first burn, so my rite (or write as the case may be) of passage this year is to attend Burning Man and find my tribe.

No idea.
Their eyes perhaps.
Maybe they'll recognize me.

That's why I'm hoping to find some of them at Burning Man; I've been half-way around the world in search of them and haven't found any yet. I can only hope that if they're anywhere, they're going to be here...

Well, we sorta sell our souls. William Burroughs said a soul is qualatative merchanndise and not all are worth saving, more or less.

(I think I have that backwards)

So, depending on the value of your soul and the selling price, it can be either a substantial increase in revinue or a substantial loss of it. Either way, it can go on a tax form.

No, that doesn't make sense to me either.

Have you considered that you haven't found one tribe because you belong to more than one?
