Where would you rather be?

Post by maryanimal » Sun Apr 17, 2011 11:48 pm

There are times I'd rather be somewhere other than the place I am. Especially on a stressful day, or in a romantic mood. Like right now, I'd like to be in a warm climate, a beach with white sand, a warm breeze and swaying palm trees. Not a whole lot of people, clear aqua blue water.

Am I supposed to say Philadelphia? or Sevastopol Ukraine?

Home. Just outside Valfabbrica. Sitting on our porch, barbecue going, wild boar steaks on the grill sizzling, with a glass of Montefalciano and looking at the one neighbor's olive orchard... and schmoozing with the other neighbors from up the road, or up the hill... Futzing in the garden, or in the old church... maybe clearing the old driveway for the apartments. And not worried about a damthing!

Yeah, that's where.

Now I'm obsessed by my smallish town in Germany, with weekly trips to neighboring towns to visit their folk museums and flea markets...

Edit3ed to add: Prague would work, too.

You know, if all of us jumped the pond, think of the burn we could throw over there -

Oh boy.
I am working on being in the Here and Now as much as possible, and making THIS my tropical vacation fantasy.
BUT.
It would be nice to be ANYWHERE in Hawai'i right now, doing just about anything.

Too old for the Navy unless they allow older women to join and use as a secret weapon against the enemy, especially while going through menopause. Diego Garcia looks good!

Right here in Maiori, Italy along the Amalfi coast. Some of the friendliest people I have ever met, warm water, beautiful weather, lemons sweet enough to eat right off the vine and as big as a melon, delicious food, plenty of limoncello, and beautiful hiking walking distance from the beach up into the hills and cliffs along the coast.

I spent some time here one summer while touring performing Carmina Burana. I always hated Italy until I went to this beautiful place. It's stuck deep in my heart now.
Finally moving to SF...can't WAIT!

Unfortunately, we did not get that port of call; though, we cruised by there very slowly. It is a very beautiful area.

Oh wow I have never been to Disneyland! Disney World, yes, a dozen times at least but not for

*counts on fingers*

seven years!

I love that place, because everyone there smiles and says "Yes!" and reality does not intrude. I remember starting CPR at Epcot one trip, some poor old guy dropped right in front of me, pulseless, but I swear it was no more than a minute before a team popped up out of nowhere with a stretcher, accompanied by a sweet young woman in a suit who gave me a gift certificate! (WTF???) But they wheeled that guy off lickety-split. My kids had not even missed me. I love that place.

Turtle Island, Fiji. The $2000/night cost is slightly prohibitive though.

My mother says good things about Hamburg. The family lived there for a year, while my father did a post-doc. My older sister was born there.
