monkeyhut/rebar?

so ive read all the posts on it and fallowed the links to the original design and am confident i can do it, but i am confused about the rebar? when you put it in the ground do you bend it and the slide the pipe on it? or just hammer it in straight?

There are differing schools of thought on rebar.
If you just pound it into the ground, it leaves nasty ends that someone could hurt themselves--badly--on.
Here are the typical ways people deal with this:
*put plastic bottles or stuffed animals over the rebar
*"candy cane" it before coming out to the playa
*make some other kind of end, again before coming to the burn.
*taping it to an upright (This is rebar you are using for a shade structure with supports perpendicular to the ground.)

I think I understand what you're asking. For the MH the rebar that the PVC slips over on either end of each rib is put in straight. You want to drive the rebar at least half way in, probably just a bit past half way. You want the rebar 90 degrees to the ground.

The Monkey Hut instructions should explain exactly how wide apart the rebar should be depending on the overall width of your structure.

Noremac.Samoth, the rebar is indeed pounded straight. The PVC has a little bit of bend to it.

After about the third time I set up my Monkey Hut (just practicing) I decided, once I had the rebar in as far as it needed to be (poundpoundpoundpound-measure-pound-measure-ok that's good), to take a can of spray paint and paint the part that was showing

so, I can just pound until paint hits ground and then I stop.
