2 burners trying to make it to the 2011 Burning Man!

Post by tashaTRAGEDY » Thu Apr 21, 2011 8:30 pm

My name is Natasha I'm 20 & will be a virgin burner this year at Burning Man. My best friend Amanda, who is 21, will be going for her 2nd time at burning man. We're so excited
To be able to leave Oklahoma and come experience Burning Man, except we have a slight problem. We have no way there. Thankfully my mom works for the airlines and we can fly into most airports in the area for free. We would just need a ride from an airport to the burning man destination! If anybody would be so kind as to let us ride to burning man with you, we would be eternally grateful. Serious inquiries only please. If you would like to email me at [email protected] or call or text Amanda at 405-650-5027 to work something that'd be great. We look forward to hearing from you!!!

Here's the fun part of Burning Man...Research! Read the first timers guide, then move on to the regional contacts. You will find, after doing that....you'll have more researching to do. And, the more you do the better! While were here to help, most of us...you really have to do a lot of work, to make it a wonderful, personal experience. Best of luck!

If you can fly into Reno you won't have any problem finding a ride to the playa.

Can you explain the 'serious inquiries only' thing to me?

Is that a joke here?

I've seen it for years in classifieds and it always seems geared to make an ad fail.
On cl it invariably is in an ad with no information about what is being sold whatsoever, and is seemingly or clearly incredibly overpriced.
I tend to take it as a warning that the poster is not serious about the ad.

The gals are young.
Unless you want tons of junk mail and more prank calls than you're already gotten, take down your email and phone number. You can put your email in your profile without fear.
If you fly into Reno airport, then you will likely get a ride to BRC.

Burners (virgin or veteran) from Oklahoma should feel free to contact the regional contact here in OK... me. [email protected].

I help OK burners with their questions, help local folks hook up to share ideas and resources, and organize get-togethers to swap stories and tips.

Please contact me anytime.

tashaTRAGEDY, if you're still checking this board, keep checking the http://rideshare.burningman.com board until it updates to 2011, then make a post. Be ready to offer a little of the money you save riding the airlines for free in order to give your rideshare a little gas money. They may refuse, but it's good to have a little cash anyway.

Schedule your flights so you have time to pick up food and water and supplies (best) before meeting, or state in your post that you need an hour in one of Reno's three Walmarts before you head out. Have a list prepared. Pack goggles instead of shopping for them if you're picky.

Good luck!

So if you can manage to come up with at least 14 gal of water food for a week for 2 and a few bucks for gas I could consider an airport run if I'm not already at BM.

I would offer a pass by pick up in your state, but you would have to get another ride in Fernley. - Like others have said, look out for the rideshare site to be updated for this year in the coming weeks.

Geeze, another RC that discriminates what burners are good enough to be let into the loop. When will it ever stop? ;)
