Rides and attractions at Burning Man?

Post by Piss Clear » Sun Jul 25, 2004 3:45 pm

Hey all ... Piss Clear is planning an article on "theme park-style" rides and attractions that will be at Burning Man this year. We want to know about anything that might fit the bill. So far we've got the Roaster Coaster, Flight To Mars, and Lawn Games Camp, but are they any other camps that are planning theme park-style attractions? If so, please let me know!

Might swing by Camp Carp and see if they're doing something like the Velodrome or the Ramp of Doom (aka Ramp of Death?) again.

bamboo tightrope

Post by waltsnipe » Mon Jul 26, 2004 10:07 am

An Esplanade camp around 9ish last year had an excellent bamboo "walk of death" that took you over the band and the airstream trailers to the other side of the camp. The bamboo handrails were spaced so that you could only use one at a time, and it was a good ways up in the air. Great fun. I hope they bring it back this year.

He's planning on something even more dangerous and death defying this year. I too wish him luck.

BTW, it you were just 6' tall you could use both handrails.

The coaster is coming back, improved with an extra Go-go cage (assuming we get it finished) and a stage for the 10 second freak show.

We'll be there. Though all the work I mentioned above needs to be done before we leave if we're going to have it at all. Still, extra hands are always appreciated.

I'd also anticipate the usual suspect number of ticketholders to confuse this with Thunderdome:

mini golf at You Are That Pig

Post by PastyPig » Tue Aug 03, 2004 11:46 am

Camp You Are That Pig presents: Everything Revolves Around Uranus.

This year our mini-golf course features the signs of the zodiac - reimagined as pigs - cavorting around a 10 foot high light sculpture of Uranus.

We're also having a field day on Wednesday (announced in the most recent JRS, and on the calendar).

You Are That Pig will be at Esplanade and 5:30.

smooches,

This may be a syupid question...

I heard in a rumor these guys may not be around anymore, but what about Camp ThunderDome? Hell, it's a HUGE attraction. Reminds me of thigs like Rollerball, Roller Derby, and staged Pit Fighting. And to be honest, I am anxious to get in a good fight against my best friend. We got some issues we wanna work out. :)
