Hello-
Has anyone seen an installation in recent years that triggers off of a participant's heartbeat?
I'm starting to put together an idea but want to make sure it is original.
The idea is a group of pods, each one just big enough for 1-2 people. When you go inside you wear a heart-rate measuring wristband. The pod beats lights and sound to your own heartbeat.
Has this been done? Something similar been done?
Also- suggestions about this are welcome!
Thanks!
Sophi

Heartbeat installation project
Hey!
take a look at reOnion project :) - http://www.reonion.net
We are playing with hearthbeat, body temperature and breathing (this one is not 100%)
I'm gonna build an own EKG, which measures hearhbeat but also body temperature, and with it, we are going to generate music and visuals for them.
One tip: It's not a good idea, that you feedback the hearth beating directly (with sound/light), I've read that it can be frustrated, but if you make some distort, or you just use that parameter that it is fast or slow, then I think it will be a good experience

Also Walkabout Woods...

Please see http://eplaya.burningman.org/viewtopic.php?t=39168 for more information and/or to contact them about their project.
[Note: Although there are several people making projects surrounding around the idea of a person's heartbeat, if you make your project unique in some way than it becomes original. Besides, people can't see everything on the playa, so having several art projects surrounding around a certain theme/idea/concept will make it more likely for someone to get to experience that type of art...in other words, go for it!]
