Savannah: I don't know what it is, but no thread here escapes alive. You'll get 1 or 2 real answers at minimum, occasionally 10 or 12, and then we flog it until it's unrecognizable and you can't get your deposit back.

That watch is sooo cool. But why would you want to wear a watch at BM?

!
My husband was an EMT and took pulses on the playa. That's one reason to wear a watch there.
P.S. Ellorum, cool!

To get to your volunteer shift on time. That watch is sooo cool. But why would you want to wear a watch at BM?
To know you've got time to hit the biffy before sunrise.
To stand a chance of getting to the Hunter S. Thompson Happy Hour at . . . Happy Hour.
To get to bed at 2 or 3am if you're tenting it and like 6-7 hours of sleep.
To make friends, 'cause 90% of the people there don't know what time it is.

went to my first regional weekend camping burn last weekend. Had so much fun. It inspired me to get working on some new costumes.
Started adding fluff to my tutu. Man, that thing is dusty! Got some extra colors to make a second tutu. Experimenting with different styles, maybe add some light?

When you say "fluff" I hope you are not talking about something that will drop MOOP on the playa. (Disintegrate or fall off during the event.)

I stand corrected. For my first burn I was planning to shed most of the trappings of my default life (including my watch), but it is easy to forget that we all have our own way of doing things.Savannah wrote:To get to your volunteer shift on time. That watch is sooo cool. I'm not carrying around a timepiece out there because I can't shed the trappings of the outside world. In the outside world, I do not wear a watch.

Took the watch off 11 years ago when I retired.. Not on the mans time anymore.. Put a alarm clock in the van on the playa. Picked up about 5000sqft of recycled billboard tarps today for free.
>>WOOT<<
Many hours were spent calling around to find a place within 500 miles, and then co-ordinate a pickup to coincide with a work related seminar near the pickup location.
I have no idea how I'm going to find time to build the fabric portion of my dome between now and burn departure, but at least I have the materials now.

I have a heavy stainless steel watch on my wrist 24 hours a day, but I still proudly arrive at work when I damn well feel like it. (It's odd to not look at ePlaya at work, it feels wrong to do it on my own time).unjonharley wrote:Took the watch off 11 years ago when I retired.. Not on the mans time anymore.. It's strange not to wear the watch although I can function just fine without it, its a well-worn Victorinox Swiss Army Basic 007 watch -- nothing fancy or expensive but a nice Swiss design. I'll keep it on in the desert just because and so I can arrive for work/shift/volunteer/fun at media mecca.

Jesus fuckhole, what the fuck was that?

Like Savannah, I NEVER wear a watch in defaultia but always carry one on the playa.
It IS handy for helping others out who want to know the time.
Also "attempting" to get to any events/workshops I have planned on attending and most importantly for me, getting to my volunteer shifts on time.
Lessee my BM acquisitions lately have been a few shemagh in pretty colors, some extra goggles for myself or friends and working intermittently on some jewelry I'm making for gifts this year.

Picked up 144 mini laser finger lights for $20! The white ones make great tiny flashlights I am told. The colored ones will work on hats and costumes.
Two $5 pet laser pointers, maybe a raver will follow the beam, haha, here kittky kitty
A bugle bike horn, obnoxious noise maker but effective (safety third-ish)

I'm the MAN in a truck, burner who is stuck, you're in luck! I'll whip out my BIG tow chain and not charge you, not even one lousy buck!
a bike horn is a great thing. I have a bell, and what I thought was a bike horn, but is more like a squeaky toy that mounts on the handlebars... I like it anyway.
sewed some little patches on some belt pouches today.

Been along time since I've been able to hop on ePlaya, so lets see how rusty I am (should be like riding a bike right? You still know how, but just sorta clumsy).
Spent the weekend working on ye'old Bounder. Got the batteries out and tested, Chassis Battery=good, Coach2=good, Coach1=shoot.
Hit up a cool little unique thrift store here in Denver, called Unique Thriftstore. Scored two more fur coats, 1 sorta fits me but fits my GF better. And a really soft fur vest, that is really short but really big around. Gonna need to be brought in.
(Seems like maybe I still have it)
