They'd have to be plastic. (blech!!)

I'd certainly have time enough to gather up REAL ones by the hundreds at the 2nd hand stores here, but I just couldn't get them there.

I really don't want to show up with something that ends up being a burden, but if they're needed, I will bring them!!!

Plastic it is then.

I'll drop them off earlier in the week, if that's ok.

Sweet!!!

I've been following that acquisition quite closely, and not without a certain amount of jealousy I might add. Very much looking forward to seeing it.

Will you be replacing the shag carpet with flooring before heading out?

(if not, REALLY interested in seeing it mid- to late-week. that can NOT be pretty)

I'm pretty sure all of this is more preliminary and getting the word out. Probably, closer to the event a more specific and accurate list will be compiled and confirmed.

Might I suggest to anyone that is unsure of what to bring, or because of logistics (flying in from overseas perhaps) find it cumbersome to haul even more stuff out to the playa, bring several bags of ice. Believe me, we always need ice. Ice to ice down beer, put on cocktails, keep white wine and champagne chilled, and so on. And in that regard, white wine and champagne are always a winner. The BDC&WB wine tap will be turned off for this event (in 2005 we kept it on and literally were drunk dry) so let's plan accordingly.

I have spotted compostable or biodegradeable temporary utensils these days. (Compostable will break down much faster; biodegradable is apparently a much broader term). I was given one last year at the Burn, and spotted them at the coffee kiosk at work.

Here is an example:

http://www.biodegradablestore.com/cip/cip_utensils.html

I don't know how affordable they are yet and am still reading, but note that with a temperature limit of 180 degrees and 200 degrees respectively, they should not be used to stir the pasta while it cooks. :)

Aye aye cap'n I will have that spreadsheet compiled by 12 August for your review sir! :P

j/k JK but I will be bumping this thread & sending a blizzard of confirmatory PMs in early August... I did say this was in my skill set dude.. so y'all are free to change your minds about sixteen more times each. :D Except for mudpuppy000. I want to try your beer.

Oh and may I add: I would much rather you show up with nothing than fail to show up. :( Please know that your wonderful self is gift enough, especially if you will sing along with Graidawg.

I will be glad to bring whatever is needed but am leaning toward iced minted melon balls in ginger. Oh, and drunken tomatoes- cherry tomatoes marinated and injected with bacon vodka with a dry dip of lemon pepper and crumbled bacon!

One thing I can offer is some prep space at my camp beforehand for anyone who needs some room/stove/oven. We are a long hike from Doc's place but we can enlist help to carry stuff over from some of my minions.

Compostable. Apparently "biodegradable" means that it will break into tiny pieces, but not necessarily become a healthy part of the circle of nutrients again.

OK here I go being politically incorrect again, but why bother? With all the gas 50,000 people will be burning to get there, all the generators running all day and all night, all the trash everyone will be hauling out...100 bio degradable sporks would be meaningless. Unless it makes you personally "feel" like you are "helping" the problem. (Except that you'd be wrong.)

otherwise I'm likely to show up shamefacedly packing only ice. And toothpicks (the only thing I could think of that's plentiful while still being small and light).

Which just would NOT do in terms of showing my respect to all of you wonderful people!!!!

So. Um..... Help???? :?
Well, you could stop into Costco in Reno and pick up one of their large, circular trays of shrimp. Just a thought!

My comment was for delle, really, not to shame anybody or or insist upon anything whatsoever. If I felt like I could be relied upon 100% to appear, I would have volunteered to bring 'em myself.

I was just trying to be helpful.

Has anybody seen my "Sierra Nevada" growler that I left at the M&G last year? If I can get it back, I'll once again fill it with some SN goodness that is only aval at the SN brewery, and bring it to the M&G.
