One can drink a small amount of bleach without causing any harm or even the Bombay Bowel Growl, a little left in the cooler isn't going to be the worst thing ever, unless the smell rains on your parade.

In Shiraz, we had to do a bleach soak/rinse on all our fresh veggies. Night soil fertilizer, yum.

Sunlight will remove all the bleach.. Even the oder.. Just leave it outside open all day.. Works just like a swimming pool. Bleach water should stand for at least three hours to kill everything..

If you don't have three hours to disinfect a used cooler, you can make do faster than you think if you're not stingy with the bleach, though as a mild germaphobe I overdo these things regardless.

These are current Red Cross guidelines from page 2 of their Preventing Bloodborne Pathogens fact sheet on their website:

"Clean and disinfect all equipment and work surfaces soiled by blood or body fluids. Use a fresh disinfectant solution of approximately 1Â½ cups of liquid chlorine bleach to 1 gallon of water (1 part bleach per 9 parts water, or about a 10% solution) and allow it to stand for at least 10 minutes."

10% bleach, 10 minutes.

I don't suppose most people transport Tru Blood or black market kidneys in their coolers, but some may have transported meat, I guess. Or thrown out the cooler because they left something strange in it a long time. Anyway, there's about no disease vector better than blood, so this would be my standard of cooler cleanliness.

Yes, as is hydrogen peroxide.. Another great disinfector.. It will disapate 100% into the air..

The 10 min. rule for bleach cleaning is out the door.. Now it is 30 min.

When cleaning do not go for the wipe off effect.. Your should go beneth the blood/mold or what ever and lift the spot with your cleaning product.. This takes "time"

I got one of those 10 buck burnphones. I will carry it on the drive over, just in case I need to call the auto club or 911.

I ordered some new spectacles last week after my eye exam. Expensive buggers, bifocal polycarbonate lens with photosensitivity. I used to wear similar aviator style back in the sixties when I was a superduper paratrooper. They should arrive this week.

Just got a couple of Spokelit lights for my bike. Also a package of 40 laser finger beams which my hunny immediately grabbed to demonstrate their use when playing the saxophone. Now we have to order them for his whole middle school band!

I got some pineapple coconut water on sale, $1 each. Mailed off some supplies for the bar - ok, packaged some supplies to mail for the bar (trying to mail shit so I don't have to pay hundreds of dollars to fly with it this year). I did a first run on candied bacon, I didn't have cayenne so I substituted some hot smoked Hungarian paprika. All modesty aside, it turned out pretty awesome. I also went with dark brown sugar for added mahogany goodness.

I've been eating it cold contemplating if this will hold up on deep playa (where I'll be a lot) or if it will need to stay chilled thereby limiting my gifting opportunities.

from Home Despot for $1.60 each.

I was about to brave the brown recluse haven under by dead dad's old work bench, looking for a circular saw that might or might not work, to try to cut the daggone things myself in a shower of sparks

geez would'a paid more than that for a grinding blade, huh... and it might not have even worked!

Anyway I am happy.

Rubbed down the trailer walls again with a stronger cleaner, reduced the cig smell some more, but it is still there. Two people chain smoking in a trailer for a year can really embed some stink. Taking it to the trailer repair guy to fix the frig. Flooring is in, but have to drive to kerrville to pick it up, so sometime this week.

On a side note, Ken has purchased a puppy from the San Antonio Humane Society. *sigh*

just in case, please consider if the carpet is cut, the edges should be hemmed or taped or sealed somehow.
raw cut carpeting can become a moop disaster if it starts coming apart.
and, it gets really heavy after accumulating all that dust.
