Hellooo outt there!!!!
Virgin from Chicago~
I've been involved in BRChicago for a bit of time now, helping out at Decomp and Resonate, going to lectures, exploring the community and thoroughly enjoying all of the beautiful souls I've met! <3 <3
I was going through a really rough patch when I first started going to some parties hosted by Chicago burner peeps, and they made me realize so much about what it means to be a community, what it means to accept one another, and of course, about love and light! I found a family here and I can't wait to go home!!!!!!!!!!!
Maiden Voyage!

[quote="Savannah"]Hi! Glad to hear you're involved with your regional Burning Man community. Sounds like it came at the right time.
Have you read the Survival Guide yet? :D[/quote]
YOP! Like 5 or 6 times... well, basically all of the website, the prep guide, stuff about grey water, MOOP, LNT, relationships on the playa, getting married on the playa...everything! haha, i like to be prepared!
the one thing i am wondering most is the fact that the other members of my camp are doing early entry in their RV and we are meeting them inside once it opens for realz. they will have a lot of the food and water and essentials with them, but i hear that you "can't" get inside without the bare minimum you need to survive. Should my partner and I bring min. gallonage and food for the week to get in? or can we say that our supplies are inside? we are flying to reno, most likely, which is why i am so curious as to how it works. other camp members were unsure too.

If you click on "profile" top center, & scroll down to "preferences" you can enable your BBCode and click submit at the bottom so that quotes--and other tags--work in your replies.
Lots of people have someone else aid them in bringing in food & water; it should be okay. The people at the Gate will ask you about it, & you'll simply want to assure them that you have plenty, and it's already inside the event with your camp. (They just don't want to run over your dehydrated form 4 days later while they're patrolling the perimeter. Damages the axle!)
However, I would suggest having a few days' worth of water and food with you in case you have any difficulty meeting up, & to be as clear as possible about location, which can be a little difficult occasionally.
Your friends can register their location with Playa Info @ Center Camp once they arrive. Then, when you arrive, you can head to Playa Info and find out the address. Your friends also might be able to get a call or a text out to you before the event.
It'll also help if you have a physical description of camp, if they mark the RV distinctively, if you consider a meeting time and place for contingencies (e.g. "if we don't see you by midnight monday, aim for the center camp café at Noon and 3pm everyday until contact is made"). But it probably wont be as difficult as all that; you're a preparation fiend, and they're experienced.

Thanks for the info, that was especially helpful!
We are doing a city-style six corners for our camp, with a few art installs and an art car or two; we almost made it in time for placement, but had some trouble getting our stuff together this year. We will definitely be registering @ playa info though; we have lots of distinguishing elements to our camp.
Yay! Thanks again!

As long as tinktank doesn't show up in a empty car, tinktank is more or less safe. Since your camp wasn't placed, it might be a good idea for the people who showed up early to post signs pointing to the camp. So if you know to turn right onto outer ring after greeters you look for a sign. Let's say it's at 4:30, and you go up it till the next one at like at F and it tells you to turn right. Then you find your camp at 4:15 and F, facing the man.

Hey there Tink
I'm a big fan of being prepared and planning also, it makes it much more easy and fun to make shit up as I go along. I'm a virgin burner as well.
There are a few people from Chicage who use ePlaya and I'm sure many more who make the trek to BRC.
I almost forgot, welcome to ePlaya.
