ink in Reno

hey I am thinking that it would be cool to get some ink done in Reno on the tuesday after the burn, does anybody know of any good artists there.

I tend to give the tattooist a vague description of what i would like and let them freehand something so it needs to be a good artist because you know they cant erase it and change there mind.

if anyone from Reno has had any ink done there and wants to show pics that would be cool. I like tribal and line work rather than colour pieces but i am open to suggestions.

i can't imagine my body or my spirit wanting to go through getting tattoo after a week out there......, if you are up for it then you have to find a GOOD artist, who does not have any appointments that day, and does the kind of work you are looking for ( old school, tribal, japanese, ect.., ).... if you can do all that and still want to go under the gun the other bit i have for you is to not have them free hand the tat but custom draw you one so you can make sure it is what you want and they can make a stencil that you can look at to make sure you like the position and size of the tat prior to the "rest of your life"....,

instead of a tat, you know some people like to brand others, let them know who the real burners are.

be a real burner and get a brand. tats are for wussies. branded for life? right lucky? you know what i am talking about.

fuck yea, be hardcore,,, get a tattoo on your ass and then brand over it the day before the burn,,, should be no problem keeping it clean....... i was going to get a tattoo of a dolphin jumping over a rainbow ( on my ankle ) until i found out the guy wanted almost one hundred dollars to do it.., screw that my cousins friend does tattoos in his kitchen/// for BEER!

wouldn't the poor dolphin bump it's head on the pot of gold when it landed?

branding is better, leaves the memory in your head and the scar on the body. body and spirit branded for eternity.

branded? maybe but after the burn - sort of a been there done that memory of something I did. and yea i can take it the hassle after a week in the desert, ive got another week to recover

I understand the get a stencil but generally i trust a tattoist that comes reccomended none have really let me down yet ive got a few done exactly how i described and i like em all.

however if someone wants to draw me a pic i may take it with me and get that done- no dolphins though, seriously dolphins are bastards

Yeah but that dolphin is gettin high

gd, Aces tattoo is good (on S. Virginia St) but tend to be very arrogant, Pirates tattoo is good and people are nice, also on S. Virginia St (that is the main street that goes through downtown Reno) and will be easy for you to find if you are staying at the Sands afterwards. Stingray tattoo on Wells St is also pretty good. I know people who have all gotten tattoos at these places and were pleased with the work. Kustom Skin on N. Virginia St. also has a good rep but I don't know anyone personally who got a tat there.

hey lucky420 (just got the name lol) my dragon is getting high too and not because he wants to forget being a dolphin (joke)

i looked up all of those places on google - stingray does some outstanding work in styles i like i have like ther fb page and sent them a message, i thikn if i do get some work done it will be there (though they do look a bit gangsta and scary )

I'm leaning toward getting my sons and duaghters star signs om my left arm, with a BM logo and mybroken heart over a scar on my left arm, they have exactly what i said in the op on their homepage, about a vaque idea and letting them do the details.

Stingrays good real good. lol don't let the gangsta look fool you they are pretty nice and have been in Reno for a long time (especially for a tattoo place). Lots of places/people in Reno may look rough but aren't really. One of my sons friends got a tat there and was extremely pleased. I think getting your kids names done is awesome. I've been wanting to get mine done for sometime now and I was just thinking of getting a little BM man to enhance my wrist tatttoo, which says "What goes around comes around..." it wraps around my wrist like a bracelet. Good luck and perhaps you could post a pic afterwards.

Evolution Tattoo on Virginia, "Danny".

He did Burnerbaby's F-holes on her back. Very nice, and very relaxing shop!
And her Girlfriend Amanda is completely tatted by him. Think suicide girl, nice work.

Great variety of music to listen too as well.

The night we were there they were playing some old 30's and 40's rockabilly.

Funny thing is, the other night I decided it was time for a tattoo of the man so I dug all my tattoo equipment out of the attic. Then I realized I can't tattoo my own back.

well then you obviously need a back to ink on!

I just didnt manage to spend enough time in reno to get ink and vegas was very expensive. I am going to design the ink I want over the next few months a get it done in time for BM'12

I will maybe post a pic when it designed, I've decided to go eith a back piecs in spite of a lifetie of saying its silly, just because my idea will work best as a back piece

FWIW it's possible to have a "Burning Man" tattoo sans the stick figure. Mine is a hornytoad rampant on a pentagonal field of playa cracks, ensigned at the corners with orange pennants.

I'm going to be designing a full backpiece to hopefully be done in the new year - I only go to one tattooist, he is a multi-award winner and his stuff is utterly incredible.... It'll be a burning man piece with lots of smaller pieces inside the parameters of the stickman - but not neccesarily things actually seen at BM - it will be full of imagery which represent the guideing principles....
