Damn straight................. It sure would be interesting to see what they came up with.

We are not following the Constitution anymore... let's be honest!

What would "they" do? What kind of binding agreement would they come up with? I want to know.

Bring it on.

John Lennon wrote "imagine". He named; no more; war, heaven, hell, countries, or religion. He never imagined a world without police. Even Bartertown in Thunderdome had police. Same with the atoll in Water-World.
Our thin veneer of civilization wears off easily. Credence Clearwater sings, "200 million guns are loaded, Satan cries take aim". I don't want to live in a world where there is no cop between Satan and me.
I don't post things because I believe that they are the absolute truth. I post them because I believe that they should be considered.

All hell brakes loose only for a while... People always reorganize..

It's time for a re-organization, that's all. And yes, people will die. People are dying right now. Nothing will change.

Trust me, the cops are not really there for you now. Read about Oakland..

It depends on social class and political power. And there are plenty of people in Oakland who are upset that they are losing so many police to budget shortfalls. The situation there is complex, and it's silly to try and use it to prove a simple point.

This really doesn't cover EMTs in my experience. Or nurses either. Doctors are a different animal, I know, but even then probably have mixed motives.

I agree Fishy, ergo my not making it a blanket statement.
But, really, yes, of course folks do it because they love the work the helping and all.
But, if it paid a very minimal, or no, wage, would they still do it?

Again, not say some wouldn't, just saying profit/making a living have got to be a big driving force for many, if not most.

Which does not take away from the good they do, either.

This whole money thing is stupid.

We should have different competing money... like Federal money, State money, county and city money...

You want services from any and you have to do community service of some type to pay for your other services.... or you can get the local money to pay for local services or something like that.

We should be helping one another, not doing what we are doing just for money..... FUCK money.

Donna, Donna, Donna. You poor dear. Your ignorance is showing again. Why do you insist on continually embarrassing yourself by posting in the politics forums. You, and eplaya, would be better served if you stuck to posting on issues that you at least have a clue as to what you are talking about.

Well most physicians leave school today owing upwards of $250k for the pleasure of attending another 10 or 12 years of school after high school.

I know many doctors that, if they care about money, really don't understand math.

I can't speak to ratios.

How much to you want to bet? For some reason you wish to claim that Obama has said, and wrote, racist things,
"(probably against "whites")"even . What in Gods name gave you this idea? I love ya ygmir, but why post such a racist thought?

I don't think it was racist. It was just Ygmir sitting on the fence again. There can't be a point without a counterpoint don't-cha-know.

what is it that makes a statement racist? Heck I don't know, I guess race must be mentioned in the statement and for it to be racist I suppose it should also make one rce look good and another race look bad.

so, for Ygmir to assume that Obama has made rasicist writings is somehow very, I can't think of the right words, bothering comes to mind, upsetting also, but really neather of those express what Ygmirs thinking, expressed through his post effects me and probably it would have been wiser of me to keep my mouth shut.

I don't see, at all how my statement can be viewed as "racist".
How, can stating "and, I'd bet...snipped....." be racist?
Even if I'm wrong, (I don't think I am), saying that is not derogatory towards anyone's race.
Perhaps, you could construe it as a personal affront, but even then, I don't see it.
And, I did not state he/they made directly racist statement/writings, but suggested that some of his writings, could probably be taken that way. Perhaps, those of his wife, as well.

And, the point of it was, it didn't matter to me, anyway.

I try to use my words accurately. and, hope others read them, as such.
I believe, WD (and I love you, too) you saw words somewhat out of context, attached emotion and came up with a different meaning or tenor.
Perhaps, a more careful parsing of my missive, would give the meaning I was after.
And, conversely, perhaps I was not clear.
It does, though, bear witness to grand intellect and friendship, that we can discuss this openly, to get past misconception.
I do thank you for that.
