First timer from the UK looking for hair advice.

Hello,

I would just like to introduce myself. I am coming to BM for the first time. Will be flying into the Bay area and hanging out for a week before hand. It's also my first trip to the states. I am excited by all I have seen and heard about burning man. It seems so amazingly epic, an adventure from start to finish. Even the preparations have been a journey in their own right.

I was hoping for some girly advice. I would like to get my hair extended with bright colors and braided when I get to San Francisco. If any one can recommend somewhere cool to do that I would be grateful.

Hi exzillerated! Google "San Francisco braids" or "San Francisco hair extensions" or "San Francisco corn rows". (I don't know if people in the UK use the latter term, so despite radical self reliance being one of the 10 Principles of the Burn, I figured you might like the help.)

ETA: The reviews are really nice--it looks like Burners really like her--but it also says she does not take credit cards, so be ready.

Braids are not super-cheap, & will probably get thrashed by the wind & dust, so you have to be okay with their lifespan possibly being shorter than in the default world. Bring wide scarves to cover your hair during the epic storms to keep them prettier longer. You can help clamp down a scarf with goggles.

If you're on a tight budget, go to a fabric store when you land, buy some rolls of ribbon, then pick up some rubber bands & a lighter (to seal the ends of the ribbons so they don't shed on the playa, a big environmental no-no) and go to work!

As for hair in San Fransisco, I can't help ya any.

Though, I do hope that this isn't your first/last/and only post. There is a lot to learn from ePlaya that will make your trip that much more Fun Epic and that much less Stress-fully Epic.
