My advice is just be yourself and fuck the bullshit. Don’t do anything obviously stupid. BM has some of the most intelligent people on the planet.
mistakes happen, Just cop to it when you do it and everything moves on quickly, unlike what some do on eplaya sometimes. ( less now then what used to be.)

Just go and have a good time and have no expectations.

That's a good question as costume design continues to be my biggest pain in the rear when it comes to preparing for BM...and I'm sure I'm not alone.

No wearing shirts but no pants, no wearing corporate logos of any kind, no freaking out and yelling "woo hoo!" when you see some tits, no peeking inside tents unless invited, no taking pictures of people taking showers without asking first. Feel free to wander up to strangers on the street or sitting under shade structures that are visible from the road and talking to people, but get the hint and leave if they don't respond to you. Don't wander around asking random people for drugs, they'll think you're a cop or weirdo. And not the good kind of weirdo.

Bring something to share, whether it's art or costumes or drinks or ice cream or fixing peoples' bikes.

Have fun, don't interfere with others' ability to have fun, and you'll be fine.

Guess that really was a silly question as i am always well behaved... (Comes from being brought up in a barn) LOL... I guess I was really asking if there are some specific behavor that was commnonly found in the Newbioe Burners (like myself....) that does make them stand out and seem out of place.... I want to have a really good time and blend with other really cool people... I for one do not want to get stuck camping next to a tent full of college brats or disrespecting people..... I will make that a post... Hmmmmmm next question please

Don't hide behind a camera.

99% of the people taking pictures at BM are (intentionally or not) using the lens as a wall to define their interaction with others. "Oooh, there's a hot girl, take her picture." "Oh my, look at that, get a picture of that."

It's almost impossible to shoot something and to be a part of it at the same time. The camera not only changes what you're observing, it changes your relationship to what you're observin, too.

Don't mediate your own experience of Burning Man -- you don't need that camera.

(And before I'm flamed, no, I'm not including people who are taking pictures as part of an organized project, or who are taking photos of their friends as a PART of the larger experience of Burning Man. But there seem to be hundreds if not thousands of people walking around taking pictures rather than actually experiencing BRC. Don't be one of them. Please).

If you are trying to blend in with 'the other cool people' they will probably be able to tell, and so will 'the uncool people' and then you'll come off as being less than cool, and no one will think you're cool at all. Just relax, be yourself, and do what you want to do. That's the best way to be cool. Well, in your own universe anyways, and isn't that the universe that really matters?

You could tell the newbies at my camp last year because they were running around with their mouths hanging open yelling things like, "This is fucking incredible!" and "I can't believe this place really exists and I've never been here before!"

They were some of my absolute favorite people to be around. Don't be scared to show your newbiness. That look of awe of disbelief is one of the most beautiful things in the world. Just don't forget to drink lots of water.

Yeah , i know what you mean by that. I AM in my own universe....present spot, location i happen to be ...etc I just don't want to come off as a jackass becuase i did a Bman Faux Paux (if thats how its spelled, god i hate that i'm too fucking lazy to get a dictionary but will type 3 lines of BS to point that out....hmmm)

I usually hang out at Wrech Beach in vancouver... A place where you are on the beach... clothing is optional and most opt for none.... beer and jello shooters are vended right on the beach as vell as shrooms, sheesh, cidlies, water, juice sandwiches, pizza etc....ITS AMAZING.... ALL OF YOU ARE WELCOME AT WRECK BEACH... I'LL BUY YA A DRINK... well the idea is a great FREE BEACH where anything goes..... ALMOST... We don't like TOURISTS, or GAWKING NERDS WITH THIER CLOTHS ON, PEOPLE TAKING PICTURES OF OTHERS NUDITY WITHOUT OBTAINING PERMITION .... I take it from all of your postings here that the rules are very close..... I LOVE IT.......You all sound like my type of peeps Can't wait to get there and meet all of you.....37 days ( I do a DANCE)

Like everyone else has stated, just be yourself. When you're in awe of all you are seeing, your true colors shine through and the people around you will naturally dig that. New people are what keep Burning Man fresh. Everything will be an experience for you, just try to take it all in. Just remember that your first time will be your most memorable, if you want it to be.

Well, FreeDrinks, since you name refers to what you are giving, instead of what you expect to get, you may be on your way to behavior that we can all be proud of.

Attitudes change and emotions can get amplified out there. Especially when someone isnt drinking enough water.

Short tempers on the playa are as frequent as trolls on the e-playa.

Don't take anything personally.
Don't try to do EVERYTHING. Take a LOT of time off, chillin out with others, or you'll wear yourself out, potentially becoming a nuisance to others.
