Sock Puppet No Show!
So you been writting and answering to a sock puppet, but don't know it. Well come to the Meet and Greet Party. If they say they are going to BM and don't show up, you have your sock puppet. So, to everyone and puppet that will be the moment of truth! If you are a No show, your not a real person.

Watch using that ultrawide paintbrush again. Ever heard of playa time? When I pull off 447 one of the first things I like to do is toss my watch somewhere in the camping supplies and I'll find it in a week. Of course that caused me to miss the meet and greet last year and I crashed causing me to miss my greeters shift. (I more than made up for that the next night). Just because someone doesn't show doesn't warrant the sock banner. Shit happens, especially on the playa.

Meet and greet happens just before it gets dark and after it gets dark.
So if its getting dark its time for Meet and Greet! There isn't an excuse for that.
It's "watch" free time!
I've been to Meet and Greet they know I'm no puppet.

Hope that therapy worked for you.midgetsonparade wrote:sock puppet? is that like a troll? All I can think of are those therepy sessions where the counsler gives the kid a sock puppet and a doll and asks the kod to show the counsler on the doll where the sock puppet touched him.
Sock Puppets are people posting on threads using a fake registered persona.
Hang in there bud!

Well..., I won't be at the Meet & Greet in 2004, because I can't make BM until at least 2005 for financial reasons. I hope that doesn't make me a sock puppet. (I might smell like one right now, but I am not a sock!)

A "sock" is when... oh, I don't know... Say, stictly hypothetically speaking, if Mildone started another e-identity so he could 'talk' to himself. Someone like, oh say, olivertwists (still hypothetically speaking, right?). Then say, he created sticknikki. Then say, he created Free Drinks...Free Drinks wrote:What exactely is a sock puppet??
Then, again hypothetically speaking, he starts a thread as Mildone asking for female companionship. And, you guessed it, answers as stikkynikky. But get this, he (hypothetically) has one too many huffs off the ol' paint thinner and accidentally responds to stickinikki as Free Drinks.
Hypothetically speaking, of course.
That would be a sock puppet.
Sock Puppet Amesty
That was a thing of beauty, Sensei!
I'm still relatively new here so I really can't make this call, but perhaps we should set up a Sock Puppet Crimes Amnesty Program? Anyone who comes to the meet and greet who has used a sock puppet (or several) can be absolved of their sin by actually creating a real life sockpuppet that represents their secondary (tertiary... ect) persona online and bringing it to the meet and greet. I'll bring a cage to put them in, and we can either burn them at the Man or keep them around for display (in cages) at future years meet and greets?
Hmm... E-Playa Sock Puppet Prison as an interactive art piece. This thought pleases me... Repent oh Masters of Puppets! Repent!

Repeat.
I am not going to the meet n greet. I have a wedding, my own no less, to attend. Hardly a good reason to leave someone at the alter.
I am not a sock. To be sure that I have had another identity, BlueBirdPoof, but when the parakeet died I couldn't stand to have the reminder so I became the Cryptofishist instead. I have publically announced it on the board a number of times.
I do have a one-post sock that I created in a fit of something. My idea was to send the name and code to a number of different people so that multiple people could use the same identity. Then I chickened out, because I didn't know if I wanted to be the responsible party if someone got drunk with anonymity. I might be able to find said sock, if you're interested, Rian Jackson. I still find it an interesting prank. The tag line was going to me "The Communal Sock" so it was not intended to fool anyone.
None of those identities will be at the meet n greet. I am leaving off some gifts for Dr. Pyro to distribute (thanks again to this generous man! make sure to ask for yours.) But I could still be a sock of, hm, Dr. Pyro, Ivy, Lydia Love, Badger, or Sensai and those gifts wouldn't prove a thing, except that I was willing to go to elaborate lengths to perpetuate the deception.
If you're that darned paranoid, please continue to take your meds while at the event.

Yes, you are. (Note the furry family resemblance.) This is why I cannot amuse you--socks are never amused by their creators--especially once they have been animated by lightening bolts and are roving the e-playaside escaping from pitchforks and LED torches. What I like best about the Rob the Wob sock is that I got it before I ever signed in as myself.Rob the Wop wrote:Just admit it Cryptofishist, I'm your sock.
So, how many of you did I fool?
(and next time I making a sock that can keep his damn mouth shut!)
Oh Cryptofishist, sometimes, just sometimes, your such a silly cryptofishist!theCryptofishist wrote:Repeat.

I am not a sock...
Not to worry; it's the wedding stress building... Don't you realize that if Sensei thought you were a sock, for even one second, you'd be lying next to the rotting corpses of Mildone, olivertwists, stickinikki, and Free Drinks...
Of course Cryptofishist is not a sock; your 'realness' is, well, much to real to be anything else.
Oh, and A.Z.? The morning box score reads something like this:
Sensei : 3 (man, the kid is fuckin' fast...)
Stormy: 1 (she's feisty)
The rest of you hosers: 0
OK, c'mon people! Wake the hell up! Bob and Badger aren't always going to be there to hold your hands... I know you can all do better...
There's more out there kiddies. I just didn't want to get greedy...

Thank you sweetie. You realize that I just pulled your name as a random example of people unlikely to be maintaining me as a sock, rather than suggesting that you had ever thought I was. I think the basic premise of the original poster is silly. There are a myriad of reasons not to go to the meet n greet. A no-show isn't convincing evidence of sockitude.Sensei wrote:Oh Cryptofishist, sometimes, just sometimes, your such a silly cryptofishist!theCryptofishist wrote:Repeat.

(Especially as I'm still arranging an apperance from my famous sock Rob the Wop. If it works than nothing will ever be proven! Nothing! Ever!)
For the rest of today, I am going to refer to myself as "Sensei the Sock Slayer". Three, count 'em, three socks. Would've been four but Stormy types faster (and more accurately) than I do. I better see Sensei in the crush thread or someone's feeling are going to get hurt. Honestly, the things I do for you people...
OK, I crush Sensei. Now who's going to slam me for posting in the wrong area?Sensei wrote:For the rest of today, I am going to refer to myself as "Sensei the Sock Slayer". [quote="Rian Jackson"]wanna see it? Show youreself at the meet and greet.
Oh, and to the sock slayer: sock it to 'em!
Yes, yes I want to see it!
Will actually be able to make it this year. I had to pull out of Fire Conclave due to my arm not healing as fast as I thought it would. Instead of having to go to practice, I can actually meet some of you.
