how do you know if someone has declined? nobody can add me unless they know me so I'm curious what mine tells people.

Me, I have violent philosophical disagreements with facebook, but it's the only place where I can really keep up with my niece and nephew (he's going to be in Paris doing some sort of astronomy while writing his Oxford Ph.D and she's doing a one-year masters in translation, emphasis on Russian and German--I have to be ready to sabotage their successes at a moment's notice, gmail just won't cut it) and various people from my deep past, but I like my friends here not on facebook. I have 40-odd people I'm not likely to accept, but don't want to object reject.
But I did start a sparklepony tribe group to have a little bit of connection with them. Shameless.

I'd like to bring a bottle of wine or something yummy to drink. Foodwise, I'm not sure yet. I'll decide closer to the event and after I see what type of stuff everyone is bringing. I make a yummy baked bean dish that I often take to potlucks but something lighter might be better for late afternoon heat snacking!
