As an *artiste* I'd suggest being a bit more *articulate*.

Great idea.
Have you thought about body mounting the go pros in unusual spots? The back of the hand or under the wrist is good, so is are the knees, either pointed forward or down.

I'm going to move past the self-righteous artist mentality of not even introducing yourself and ask a more important question:
Has your video project been approved by Media Mecca?
If you think it's not necessary, I suggest reading http://www.burningman.com/press/press_apply.html .
And yes, my ass is fat, and I sit on it a good amount of time as I do my work, fix bikes to sell so I can earn extra money for the playa, and attempt to teach common courtesy to people asking for money.

I like the idea, it would be neat to see.
What I would like to know is what do you need the money for? You obviously have the camera equipment, and the ability to edit. Also, how do you plan on handling the people that don't want to be in the film?
Other then that, it looks like the barrings on your front tire are off, or the tire could be off center on the fork.

Contrary to popular belief, taking pictures does not count as 'doing stuff'. In fact, it pretty much puts you in a 'doing stuff' deficit.paynie wrote:Hope you enjoy sitting on that sofa. I'll be over here actually doing stuff.
This is crying out for a 'kickender', where you donate money to stop bad art.

Dude, I'm sorry, but did you see what he did? He registered to a very friendly board and then posted a bare-faced request for money. No hi-how-ya-doin or nothin, sheesh, and, and, if you follow the link, what do you see? A promise to feature you in his film, if you pay money.Steven bradford wrote:Now I remember why I stopped participating in the eplaya. Same old asshats, different decade.
Shit.
Forget respect for people experiencing the burn as they please, forget the consent required by BMorg for before profiting from images of burners... it's just, pay me money to be in my film! Or, for a larger "donation," he'll give you lessons on how to make a film of your very own.
So yeah call us asshats for not applauding this guy, but, seriously he comes off as a total fuckwad.

It's been years since I posted anything here .... and now I remember why. 90% bullshit. 10% good stuff.
No, I don't have all the gear to shoot this yet. I've borrowed a couple cameras to shoot tests. It will also take me about 6 weeks to edit.
Try this. If you like it, help out. If you don't, ignore me.
Remember the temple last year. Kickstarter raised $26,000 for that. Many, many projects have been assisted .... just like this one.
Yes, I am full aware that project need to be approved. I know MM very well and am jumping through all the correct hoops.

You know what, you're right. Obviously, you have your way of doing things.paynie wrote:It's been years since I posted anything here .... and now I remember why. 90% bullshit. 10% good stuff.

If some of us find it rude to be asked for money to support a project without an introduction of who you are, an explanation of what you are doing, or background about you and your ability to realize the project, then that's the way we do things.
Goodbye.

And after looking at the Kickstarter guidelines on the main page (here) I am wondering why, if you are such a notable elite in-with-the-in-crowd Burner that you need no introduction and can assume with total confidence that your film will be approved, why are you asking us for money?paynie wrote:Nope. I'm assuming nothing.
Here's a link to my last film.
Available for all to see for free.
Over 1000 views in the past few weeks.
FYI: This will be year 12 for me, so I know the drill.

Wow. Well this raises many an eyebrow.
The idea seems great. It could be cool to have a bunch of cool fly by shots and aerial photos. Birds Eye and Ant's Eye shots could be sweet.
I have a tiny bit of experience and spent a bit of time tinkering around in high school with RF cars and planes. We were in the Technology Student Association (TSA) aka Nerds in the south east wing of the school club. Which was cool cause the school gave us a little bit of money each year to Nerd out. A buddy of mine, main reason I even tinkered at all, had an RF helicopter.
They don't work very well in the wind, at all. Typically they are designed to be super light so thay can run off the little mini two stroke gas motors, and get thrown around in the wind. We spent a whole school year playing around with RF planes and my friends helicopter. Still couldn't master it.
Rumor has it, BRC is pretty F-ing windy.
I can't imagine trying to strap a camera to one and throwing the balance all off, plus adding weight.
Interesting.

It can be done.
And .......

I agree that film is an art, and I rather like that you intend to put a new spin on this film project. Now the filming and its equiptment should be at your expense. BRC does not benifit from you obtaining such expensive stuff. if you were asking for funding on and actual interactive art project involving sharing this film with the BRC then you might recive a welcome responce. So in short Your presentation sucks. I for one don't want shit flying over my head with the wind factor on the playa, and I DON'T KNOW YOU. Why should I give you money?
So the $26,000 that was raised for the temple can only buy wood, not tools?
Please note I did not ask for any money from anyone here. All I did was post a link to the project on Kickstarter.
Trust me, I will not be flying anything in any wind. I have all sorts of other ways of filming.
I'm not sure how well you know Kickstarter, "knowing" someone doesn't really matter. I've backed over 30 projects so far. Most by people I have not and will never meet.

People who get support are ones who introfuckingduce themselves. Not anonomous newly-registered folks who post a bare link to a fund-raising site.
Ah fuck I've been had by a troll.
